Macdonald Kilhey Court Hotel & Spa, hotel in Wigan

Just 10 minutes from Wigan center, Macdonald Kilhey Court Hotel & Spa offers a spa, and delicious breakfasts. With free parking, the hotel is 12 miles from Bolton.

Most everything was really good - the hotel doesn't seem to be fully functional yet and the price reflected that. Since we were just breaking our journey, that was perfect. We used to live not far from here and it was really, really nice to be back in the North and experience such friendly and cheerful staff.

Judge me for a stay and I did not sleep in the bed. I went there and they told me to come back later. I was under the impression I was allowed to book straight in. It was the middle of the night and I needed a bed so I had to go somewhere else.

3 bed Hawthorn Berries House driveway & garden, M6 & M58, hotel in Wigan

A recently renovated apartment, 3 bed Hawthorn Berries House driveway & garden, M6 & M58 offers accommodations in Wigan.

The facilities in the house look fairly new. The house owner clearly cares about their customers - there are many details in the house that shows that, especially the details in the bathroom and living room. Bedroom is clean and tidy. The house also has a fairly large garden - we did not use it due to the bad weather but it looks clean. The street is very close to the main road, but very quiet. We loved our stay and most definitely will return next year :)

Wigan has always been a decent night out, we had arrived a little bit too late to go out into the city centre, so we decided to just get our head down and have an early-ish night, getting into the room, I noticed that somebody had been sick quite recently on the carpet of the room we were staying in as it still hadn’t been cleaned up, I would definitely think about not staying in that accommodation like this again

The place I lived in for the first 30 years of my life till 41 years ago is a depressing town to walk around that is losing its character to yet another go at modern development. Too many derelict shuttered buildings. The only town with a bypass that runs through the centre of it!

Wigan is under redevelopment at present, a reaction I suppose to the changing shopping habits of people. The town is no better or worse than many others I visit, but it does look like Wigan has taken action to reintroduce housing to the town centre which should bring with it a shopping and eating revival. My access to restaurants was limited as I arrived on a Tuesday. I was recommended a particular restaurant as being one of the best in the town. It was fine and the staff were wonderful, but I wasn't told when I booked (in person) that the only option was the pre-fixe menu, the a la carte wasn't available on Tuesday. I was there to meet with friends so the overall ambience of the town was less important, but I feel that Wigan is a town that isn't there yet but is trying to get there and will be a great place to visit when the redevelopment is complete.

We stayed in room 26 and the people in the room above were noisy all night - had no sleep so checked out at 5.30am - reported noise to night porter he said they’d been in and out all night have cigarettes. He said he’s done a walk about check at 5am and he could hear them being noisy but did nothing about it - had a 4 hour drive after having no sleep - I would request a full refund

Very impressed with my first stay at a Greene King hotel which was better than the other two well known 'cheap' hotel chains. Exceptionally friendly staff, very clean and comfortable accommodation with ample free on-site parking. Excellent breakfast with full range of cereals, pastries, cold food, or a full English breakfast made fresh to order with friendly waitress. Good bar and restaurant in adjoining building. Buses to Wigan centre, Southport, and St. Helens stop right outside the hotel.

hotel looked nice on pictures, communal check in area and bar wasnt very inviting and we were asked to use the outside back stairs to exit. Room was very tastfully decoarated but there was a strong smell of urine which was offputting. the bar was full of strange men, some who clearly had mental health issues so we had one drink and left. we felt it was expensive for what it was, owner told us its significantly cheaper if booked direct

Just a really welcoming, friendly, relaxed place. A crowd of proper old-school Wigan customers who are ALWAYS chatty and pleasant. The colleagues are so warm and friendly but still professional. The pub is quirky and gorgeous and always love and clean. Wetherspoons food is brilliant, can’t fault it. Beer is cheap as chips. Top value all round, I love the place.

At the age of 70, I wouldn't normally have stayed over a pub with live music. However, the critical illness of a family member left me no choice, especially as Premier Inn had increased their prices to £175.50. The staff of the Charles Dickens couldn't have been kinder or more compassionate. I will remember them with gratitude.

Hotel looked tired. I was put in a room in an alcove next to the entrance and it was very noisy. Unimpressed. Room needed a refurb. Certainly needs downgrading a star. No where near as good as Wrightington Country Club.
