Reception staff on arrival was super lovely and she took care of us so well. We needed our second room to be a twin but I'd booked a king. She sorted it out easily and made it easy.
Bar staff in the evening were excellent, friendly and efficient.

Very comfortable and spacious rooms, with a chic 60s style but modern at the same time. Bar and breakfast areas are beautifully decorated to bring back that 60s ambience of the original newspaper building. Breakfast was limited but good quality.

The staff were all perfectly friendly and helpful, and the hotel bar was also nice. I didn't make use of the car park, but it seemed well appointed and easy to use if one needed it. The location is also very convenient to a lot of University of Warwick buildings (probably the main reason most people would stay here) and the university bus interchange.

Southeast of Birmingham, Coventry is best known for the shell of its old cathedral, a poignant reminder of the damage sustained during World War II. Part of its northern wall joins the new Modernist cathedral, designed by Sir Basil Spence.
In the neighboring gardens, there are remains of an 11th-century Benedictine monastery set up by Lord Leofric. His wife, Lady Godiva, became Coventry’s greatest legend by riding naked on horseback in protest of her husband’s high taxes.
St. Mary’s Guildhall is built on part of the old castle, and Baginton on the city’s outskirts houses the reconstructed Roman Lunt Fort. Coventry Airport is also here, by the Midland Air Museum, where the exhibits include a Vulcan.
The Coventry Transport Museum has great examples of vehicles manufactured in the city over the years. Another point of interest are the canals north of the city's center, lined by historic buildings. Other attractions include the Warwick Arts Centre – the UK’s 2nd largest – and the Ricoh Arena, home of Coventry City FC. The Sky Dome Arena is an ice hockey and music venue, while the best shopping is found in Arena Park Center.
The city has 2 universities and tons of bars and restaurants. There are also several Coventry hotels, guesthouses and country houses on Booking.com, most with parking and some with pools.
As former residence of Coventry we didn't visit the city.
As former residence of Coventry we didn't visit the city. We were going to Oxford and the Cocked Hat was ideally placed for outward and return journeys from Yorkshire.
One place that we always visit in Coventry is the War Memorial Park which is good for a walk with free parking for 3 hours and a park and ride bus running every half hour.

I have visited Coventry a few times and every time I come back I am pleased with my trip. Beautiful architecture and friendly people. The diverse food options are great and the food is tasty and cheap! Citizens are helpful and polite which is refreshing when you’re from down south. Popeys and Chinese kitchen are always a bargain and full of flavour, although they are not in the city centre but they are worth a try :)
The cathedral is always worth a visit! As well as the museum which is next to it, there are lots of statues and details which hold the city’s culture and history.
The market is also worth a visit full of culture from Irish to African, the people are welcoming and are not trying to haggle your money. It is easy to get around as everything is closer than you would expect.

As the ‘motor city’ Coventry should have better traffic...
As the ‘motor city’ Coventry should have better traffic management; it’s a bit of a nightmare to navigate at busy times. But there are many worthy attractions and Coventry is starting to move out from under the shadow of Birmingham. The new rail station is good to see and there are so many lovely old buildings to explore. (The latter somewhat reduce the impact of so many high rise student flats. What possessed the local council to dish out so many permits for student accom? They do not enhance the skyline, never mind the well-being of residents.)

We adored the water features in the middle of the pavement!
We adored the water features in the middle of the pavement! So many sequences and lights ,fascinating. The Museum and wildlife photography exhibition brilliant, the Cathedral and ruins, the wonderful market. Neither my sister and I had visited before so were delighted not just to see the statue of Lady Godiva, but the amazing event which happens every hour on the building behind her. Amusing and well worth watching. ( Naughty peeping Tom ! )
All in all Coventry has amazing choices of where and what to eat. The Old Wetherspoons is well worth a visit. We went twice. We are certainly planning another visit before the end of the year. Shirl

I'm from Coventry and know it well.
I'm from Coventry and know it well. Although I feel affection for my home city, I don't actually like it very much.
There are some brilliant attractions, nice restaurants, and the city centre can be pleasant on a summer's day; however much of the city looks dirty and worn, and I don't always feel safe walking in the city at night. For this reason a city centre hotel with parking on the outskirts entails using cabs or buses to reach the car, which adds expense.
I think for a visitor though those things are manageable; Coventry's no worse, probably better and safer, than many cities; it's just not like it was when I grew up there.
I'm surprised the Transport Museum and the Herbert Gallery are not listed as attractions to rate here. The city also has a proud and deserved musical heritage (Two-Tone) and there are exhibits about this, and some wonderfully preserved mediaeval buildings (Spon Street and elsewhere). There is a fascinating preserved archaeological dig in the cathedral quarter that was extensively covered by Time Team.

There's plenty to do for a weekend visit: the Transport Museum is one none of the best in the country & certainly one located in the middle of the city centre. Herbert Gallery has a great location in a terrific building & location. Coventry Cathedral is beautiful & unique & a wonderful example of post-war British architecture as is the shopping area made up of a series of interlocking pedestrian precincts that was Britain's first. The 1950s architecture is fantastic & a little bit like time-travelling as it is largely complete & unspoilt.
There is plenty of shopping opportunities with a really wide mix of shops that makes the city centre a place for everyone & this is shown to be true as, at the weekends, it's full of people & provides a dynamic atmosphere to the city.
I CAN'T PRAISE ALL THE STAFF ENOUGH FOR THE KINDNESS THAT WAS SHOWN TO ME DURING MY STAY AT THE DOUBLE TREE HILTON COVENTRY STADIUM. MY DAD CAME FROM COVENTRY AND IT WAS ON MY BUCKET LIST TO WATCH COVENTRY PLAY FOOTBALL. THE HOTEL BEING NEXT-DOOR TOTHE STADIUM WAS A BONUS, COVENTRY WINNING THE GAME WAS EVEN BETTER.
THANK YOU AGAIN TO ALL WHO MADE MY TRIP WORTHWHILE.

Everything this is the best Hotel we stayed in the uk The staff were great we had only booked for 1 night but because my daughter had won a competition at Crufts we wonted a extra night as she had to stay a extra night they found a way of getting us in and even asked how she got on the next day (she won) cant wait to got back without the stress of the dog show
Very nice hotel and easy to get to as just off the M6 motorway.
Rooms were very clean and the staff on reception were friendly. There's a restaurant, but we didn't eat there, so can't comment on the food. There are a couple of supermarkets close by and other options to eat at. There also bus stops not too far away for getting into Coventry city centre.
Coventry is very beautiful and we shall be making visits again.
Britannia hotel is the best hotel to stay in if you want to go out for a night on the town and there are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from to have a great night out. The people of Coventry are very very friendly and it’s the complete opposite to where we live.
Quiet country location. Beautiful grounds well away from the city centres Birmingham and Coventry but close enough for access. Near enough to the NEC which was the reason I booked there The other hotels near the NEC had limited availability and bumped up prices. This wasn't exactly cheap but better value.
My stay at the Coventry hill hotel was a spare of the moment thing due to work being done in my home. I had all the comforts of being at home.and settled down for the evening in my room surprisingly easy. And I slept better than I do in my own bed. Brilliant, and should I need a room again, I will be back.
This is nice quiet hotel near Coventry city centre, ideal for work. I have stayed quite a few times now.
Comfy and clean, some of the rooms have been renovated and are to a high standard, others are obviously still to be done.
Bar food fresh and reasonably priced.
Clean, quiet, comfortable room. The staff was very friendly both at the front desk and the restaurant. The breakfast buffet was quite nice with a large selection of items.
We like this hotel chain and enjoyed our stay..
The location was convenient for access to Coventry city centre. Had a nice fountain and small water feature with fish out front.
The part of the hotel they put in pictures is pretty... the rest is not.
Friendly staff, excellent food at breakfast and evening meal. Nice outdoor area with plenty of tables, comfortable bed. Extra glazing meant no noise from main road behind hotel. Plenty of free parking.
The property is located in the centre of Coventry. It's clean and convenient. It smells nice, too..
But the best thing is, Dally's fast response when I'm in need, she's always very helpful.
Staff very helpful when I called with booking information problems due to booking.com system.
Location is great for city centre and university, can easily walk around city centre
We have given the hotel 5/10. The staff were amazing - friendly and helpful, couldn't do enough.
The food in the restaurant was also excellent! Good value and perfectly cooked.
The staff allowed me to check in early, they were extremely helpful as this was my first time in Coventry and the hotel staff directed me to where I had to go.
