Simple, clean and comfortable room. The host, Claire, was wonderful - great communication and she went out of her way to help me out during my stay (providing advice on local activities, storing bags, drying some wet clothes). Breakfast was excellent.

The location was convenient and the price was reasonable, which is the reason I had booked. There are places to eat nearby, according to google maps.

All of the Staff were very friendly and lovely, and the food was so nice. The Welsh Breakfast was very tasty, used good quality local ingredients. We had Scallops to start which were cooked to perfection. My partner had the Cod which was so succulent and full of flavour with a good portion. I had the monkfish which was a little over and the portion of the overall dish was small for the price, but the taste was lush! We didnt use the pool area but it looked nice from outside!
Perfectly situated within the Valley and on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park, the hotel’s location allows easy access to many of the sites of interest in the area.

This guesthouse is fantastic. Very close to the town and if you drive there is plenty of street parking. Everything about the room was lovely. Comfy beds and very clean. The room I was given had a kitchen with stove and washing machine...a nice surprise. Absolutely no complaints .

Definitely need a car to get around this area.
Definitely need a car to get around this area. Not quite the luxury I was looking for. Accomodation and breakfast where I stayed was fairly basic. Quite limited in eating out options too.
Managed to walk the Pen y Fan which was the highlight of my stay here.

Nice town with some lovely places to go for a drink and a bite to eat. Friendly bar with live music at the weekend. Also there is a Wetherspoon. The Zip World was only a 30 min drive away and is fantastic. Great scenery and walks near by.

Only stayed 2 days and then was at an event so not enough time to explore. However on an evening plenty of places to eat and drink. Tesco Extra and range of other shops incl. Saturday street market. Train and bus transport hub, and plenty of places to explore a short distance away.

Liked the fact it has good public transport links to the Brecon Beacons the town itself looks a bit run down in places like many these days but had everything we needed with lots of things to do nearby. We enjoyed climbing Corn Du, Pen Y Fan, visiting Lyn Cwm Llwch, walking along parts of the Taff Trail, visiting The Brecon Mountain Railway, Cyfarthfa Castle and park as well as things further a field.

Centre -lovely trails and views.
Also the Brecon Beacons were within easy reach.
We ate at Nant Ddu the first night and shared 3 tasty side dishes between us.
Not too far from 3 near locations where my Dad was born and lived in Penwhriceiber, Cefn Pennar and Mountain Ash. Able to visit as near.
The staff were excellent! Very helpful and welcoming and couldn't do enough to make my stay perfect. The bed was really comfortable and I had the best nights sleep I've ever had in a hotel and I have stayed in lots. There is ample parking, comfortable bed, great shower and good food. Very impressed the staff even went to the trouble of making me vegetarian gravy. I often travel to Wales and this is the first time I have stayed here. If I come back to this area, this will always be my first choice.
Location in South Wales is good; there are main roads nearby that link you to bigger towns and the mountains. There are ample fuel stations and big shops/supermarkets nearby. The room was clean and had supplies of towels etc. Communication from the owners was good (although the 'suggestions' emails could have been cut down a little - one would have been OK). The property had free parking available in a large car park behind the property. Shower was fine.
I had a very comfortable and quiet stay, the location is great. Breakfast was perfect, the little kitchenette had everything I needed so didn't have to go out for dinner, I was able to reheat the food I had brought with me. The bed was very comfortable. Really nice to be able to relax on the sofa and have plenty of space rather than a hotel room which is quite cramped. I would absolutely recommend and will definitely stay again.
Attention to detail and going the extra mile. The hosts were super friendly and helpful. Although you have your own washing machine and it’s a self contained flat the hosts still came and serviced your room as though you were in a hotel….these people certainly know hospitality I loved my stay.
Merthyr has some lovely walks but be prepared for some hills! It is Wales after all 😅
The castle and the grounds are beautiful.
Fantastic location for what we were in the Brecon's for - hiking. Extremely easy to find and check in was stress free. Rooms were very spacious, clean and the amenities were great (especially the bath's in every room we had, full of cold water after a long day in the mountains!). Great breakfast and stroll down to the beautiful reservoir in the morning. Highly recommend!
Great location, handy for the Brecon Beacons National Park and the local town Merthyr Tydfil.
Comfy, clean and spacious room with a nice view. Contained a mini fridge and the usual tea/coffee etc.
Very friendly and helpful staff all the way through our stay. The owner Moyra going out of her way to help us after we couldn’t make the first day of our stay.
A quirky place to stay, well thought out for a holiday home. Hot tub was a good addition, and the outside space is nice. Location is convenient for getting to Brecon and Bikepark Wales. Secure shed for bikes. The fish and chip shop round the corner is very good. Owner was friendly and available. Property was clean. I would definitely stay again.
We couldn't asked for a better place to stay, warming studio with very comfy bed and the view from our windows were amazing.
There's plenty of shops/pubs within 10min walk from James place.
We forgot to thank you for the lovely Wales cakes James. We certainly coming back!!!
It was perfect!
Highly recommended.
Thank you so much James& family.
Nice little cottage, plenty of room inside. Spacious back yard. Comfy beds. We only used it to store bikes and sleep in during the evening. It's approx 3 miles from Merthyr Tydfil high street. Local Londis two minute walk away.
Amazing breakfast and lovely friendly and helpful staff. Real family feel to the place and good location to explore the area around. Massive cottage with big kitchen and tea/coffee provided which was lovely.
Perfectly clean property, everything we needed for our couple nights for the boys visit to Bike Park Wales. So much better than staying in a hotel and bonus we could bring Merlin 🐾.
