Why were there so many taxes. Is it just the Ramada Hotel?
Why were there so many taxes. Is it just the Ramada Hotel? Why is there a hotel tax and a room tax in addition to city and state taxes? I did not incurr hotel and room taxes a year ago at a Holiday Inn in Queens.

Queens is more modern and you have plenty of choices for food. I'm an Asian and the food in Queens are little bit different than Chinatown so really depends on the preference.
One thing I do notice are Queens has more Malls, big malls so is easy to shop for clothing. And also the hotel cost and parking are little bit cheaper than downtown. If you don't mind to take metro, Queens are good option.

This Queens neighborhood around Queens Plaza is a "happening" one. Lots of food options, excellent Manhattan connectivity, Pedestrian pathway along Queensboro bridge offers Manhattan-visit on foot, weather permitting !
Public laundromats, "convenience" stores are in the neighborhood.

There is a lot to do, many options to spend your day. Hotels are close to the Airport- minutes away. However, everything is expensive, we came from spending a few days in Cleveland and everthing in Queens was more expensive, especially food.

This was a good hotel for the proximity to JFK with a reasonable rate. The rooms are small, but the bed is comfortable and the rooms are very clean. The staff was friendly. We arrived very late, and it was a very smooth check-in.
I recently stayed at the Ravel Hotel with my husband. We got upgraded and we had an amazing and absolutely breath-taking view from our balcony ! Our room was really spacious and clean (and was kept clean even during our stay). Our bed was comfortable as well. The staff was very polite and helpful. The location is great too - it is situated next to Queensboro Bridge metro station so you can get easily and fast to Manhattan. This hotel is simply amazing! We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to NYC :-)
Flushing is an incredible neighborhood featuring the best food on earth, and this was a nice little hotel in the middle of it all. Bed was comfortable enough, but I can't say I slept like a dream. Walking distance to lots of wonderful restaurants and the 7 train. Stayed as a New Yorker who moved out of the city lol, so I'm used to the Flushing life and chose this hotel because of it. If you stay here, PLEASE eat the local food, it's amazing and totally worth it.
Very spacious room for NYC standard. Accessible building with ramp in front and a lift. Very close to the Chinatown area, tons of good Asian restaurants and supermarkets. Quite strategically-located. They have a complimentary shuttle service from and towards La Guardia Airport. We stayed during the Memorial Weekend, so the price is higher than usual, but definitely, the best bang for your buck especially if you are planning to explore Flushing/Queens area.
Best place for the value for money to stay. The hotel doesn’t look fancy from outside but in terms on service ans quality of cleanliness and breakfast its a 10/10 place to stay. Its also quite close (3mins walking) to the metro station that takes to the heart of the NYC and almost anywhere nearby.
This is my 5th stay in last 1 year
Never disappointed by this property. Ms.Emma at the front desk is a gem. She remembered me from last year. Greeted us and put us in the best available room.
Always coming back to this hotel whenever in NY. Btw room size is bigger than what they advertise.
I like everything besides the location. Mechanics shops neighbor. No nice at all. BUT THE HOTEL IS GREAT. CLEAN
COMFORTABLE. THE RESTAURANT PIZZA IS THE BEST. i am not sure but it looks like the restaurant owner is taking care of everything. Great. I will go again. Thank you..
Garry, at the front desk was exceptionally helpful. The hotel was clean and was at perfect distance from the JFK international airport. I recommend this hotel to everyone looking for a comfortable and value for money stay in Queens.
The amazing breakfast was the cherry on top.
The hotel is relatively modern, the room I stayed was comfortable and had a very nice view over Long Island City centre and Manhattan, more or less the same view of the rooftop bar and restaurant. Long Island City is well connected by metro to Manhattan.
Good location and warm setup in the room. Roof Cafe has a beautiful view of Manhattan. Enjoyed very much with my family from a late dinner there. A Citi bike sharing station nearby the hotel is a plus for taking bike touring in long island city.
Everything was amazing from the location to the design and layout to the quality of the rooms and the exceptional service of the staff. This was by far the coolest hotel with the best service I’ve ever stayed at in New York to date.
We had to find the closest hotel to my aunt’s home, she is currently going through chemo. The property was a great location, close to the mall, subway, and the best bagel shop Rego Bagels.
The property lays back from Flushing downtown, but walkable to the busy area, therefore it is a little bit quieter compared to surrounding hotels. staffs were super friendly and polite!
TownePlace Suites Marriott Long Island City is a lovely hotel close to restaurants, the train into Manhattan and has comfy, clean rooms with a friendly staff. We enjoyed our stay here.
Breakfast options were very good. Room was clean and spacious. Staff was very nice and helpful. I would for sure recomend this hotel for short stay in between flights.
Itwasa great experience staying at Holiday Inn, yet it is a bit unsafe to walk around the neighborhood. I also liked how near is the hotel from Jamaica Station.
