Oban is a city built around a late 18th-century distillery that produces one of the finest single malt whiskeys in Scotland. This normally peaceful town is invaded during summer when tourists use it as a base to visit the Inner Hebrides islands such as Mull, Lismore and Coll, supporting its status as the Gateway to the Isles.
The horseshoe-shaped Oban Bay is sheltered by Kerrera Island with its spectacular Gylen Castle. Award-winning seafood restaurants and lively pubs line George Street and the waterfront of Corran Esplanade adjacent to the harbour.
Take a short walk up the hill to McCaig’s Tower, a structure based on the Roman Colosseum, for the finest views of Oban’s centre and the outer islands. When you get back down to sea level, stroll into and stumble out of the Oban whiskey distillery after sampling the local version of the 'water of life'.
Admire the coastal scenery as you travel a bit out of town to the 7th-century ruins of Dunollie Castle, home of the Clan MacDougall. The Firth of Lorn gives visitors a fanatstic opportunity to try some sea kayaking.
As the capital of North Argyll, Oban has a great selection of hotels, guest houses and B&Bs available on Booking.com.

Oban is a delightful seaside town that offers very good restaurants, shopping (small shops with nice merchandise) and the ability to enjoy the beauty of the bay and all of its activity. Oban makes a great base for exploring the area of walks/hikes, going out on small boat short duration trips to see wildlife, lots of castles to visit or to take the ferry out to the islands. Taxi service is plentiful as are private tour guides.

Bustling little port at centre of Highland area, ferries to outer and inner islands. Train station if no car, plus reasonable bus service to places of interest, eg. Dunstaffnage Castle and Oceanic research facility at Dunbeg etc. Try a ferry visit to Mull and look out for seals , dolphins, etc.
Excellent shops and restaurants, all in small scale and within easy walking distance.
Lots of points of interest and if weather nice, very hard to beat. Great for Families with young children and Oldies as well.

GORGEOUS little port town.
GORGEOUS little port town. Lots of lovely little shops, an interesting war time museum, and excellent food and drink in the numerous cafes, bars, and restaurants. Easy access to travel by bus, ferries, and trains.
Walked (some of us VERY SLOWLY!) up the hill to McCaig's Tower and enjoyed the spectacular views; followed by a delicious late lunch at Cuan Mor.

Absolutely perfect location .
Absolutely perfect location . The rooms are gorgeous with everything you need from tea coffee milk to hairdryer and iron if you need to use one I would give the hotel top marks the staff were all friendly . Unfortunately I we didn't eat in the hotel but we definitely will next time
Lovely hotel in the centre of Oban, staff were very friendly and helpful , modern room with kettle and coffee machine, complimentary bottled water, robes and slippers, they have even provided yoga mats and wireless speaker in the room, spa facilities were an added bonus to relax in the sauna , use the foot spa and heated beds after a day of exploring. Breakfast was delicious and lots of choice , we also dined in the restaurant and the food was lovely, all very reasonably priced.
Property may not be most attractive from outside above retail shop but once inside from entrance lobby, stairwell and apartment all very good. The apartment was spotlessly clean and had all the features described on the website site. Keys are collected from hotel reception a few doors down. Centrally located within walking distance of all shops and restaurants in Oban. Some metered parking on street and nearby.
The staff were very friendly and nothing was a problem for them the decor of the hotel was beautiful and very clean we will definitely stay again .we had lovely weather for our stay so enjoyed the beautiful scenery the fish platter at the ee-usk restaurant was just so fresh and delicious can't wait for our next visit to Oban.
Great location for an overnight stay just outside of Oban (5 mile drive to catch a ferry to Mull the next day). Dinner options were fantastic - so good I returned for an evening meal on my way home too without the overnight stay. Very nice pub as part of the hotel with outside seating - which is very nice with good weather.
A smart boutique hotel overlooking the harbour entrance to Oban and a 10 minute walk to the town centre. Excellent modern decor with vintage touches. Guest focused with lovely touch in having an honesty box for the bar. Member of staff Rachel was so welcoming and made our stay so memorable.
The hotel was fantastic breakfast was fantastic enjoyed my pancakes and bacon and the avocado on toast staff were so happy and helpful nothing was too much trouble would recommend it in a heartbeat the locals of the town were helpful and friendly too Oban is a fantastic place to be
I loved the look of the hotel and the location, right across from the ocean. This is the reason I booked it. It looked absolutely Dreamy! And I loved all the amenities they touted .... however it ALL turned out to be the worst stay of our trip. Thank heavens it was only 1 night.
I cannot say enough good things about this lovely B&B - from the kind and helpful proprietors and staff, the stunning sea views, the decor, comfort and cleanliness, to every detail, big and small. Truly one of the nicest hotels we’ve ever stayed in, and we travel a lot.
The location is obviously the highlight of the hotel. They could make so much more money if they invested in upgrading and maintaining the building better. It's really an old historic jewel of Oban, so they should treat it like one and take care of it.
Neat apartment; well designed and equipped Really comfy bed, and kitchen, sitting and dining furniture all very practical.
Easy to check in and out via the nearby Ranald Hotel. Really central; a short walk to the centre of town and the shore.
Everything was amazing, great stay. Immaculately clean, and gorgeous decor. The lock box for keys was really clever and fab.
Honestly would book again in a heartbeat, wouldn’t stay in any of the hotels in Oban, would always pick this!
Charming hotel. Remarkable location. Very helpful staff. It is a Victorian hotel, and yes, it shows its age. It served every one of my expectations. If one wants something more modern, stay in the Hilton. Highly recommended.
The location, staff, and facilities were fantastic. They were extremely kind and accommodating and the building itself is full of classic seaside hotel charm. I won't hesitate to book again next time I'm in Oban.
This is an exceptional hotel and the location is glorious. We know Oban fairly well but really enjoyed returning there and having a night in this beautiful hotel.
Breakfast was excellent. Chose this hotel because it was dog friendly. Easy check-in. Parking was a big plus as not many hotels in the Oban area provide parking.
The location of the hotel is ideal with stunning views over Oban bay. Plenty car parking and clean rooms. Breakfast was basic but adequate. Staff were lovely.
