With its historic silver mine and timbered buildings it could have been the
setting for Snow White. Nonetheless it has modern shops and a lively atmosphere. Walking the old streets is a delight but there is also a forest on a mountain to encourage longer excursions,
Driving there is no doubt easy; we found travelling by train from Berlin was also convenient.
It was no surprise to see so many people taking photographs; the tourist office has splendid postcards too.

The old town square is the highlight among many!
The old town square is the highlight among many! There are literally hundreds of really old medieval and impressive buildings to admire. We took a morning guided tour of the town centre, booked on the day through the Tourist Information Centre, which was well worth the fee because you get an expert explanation of many features and buildings which you might otherwise not appreciate. We visited the Imperial Palace but there's not so much to see and the guide spoke only German which might be a problem for those who don't speak the language.
Dining possibilities in and around the town square are many and varied. Whilst there, don't miss the carillon/ Glockenspiel at the bottom of the square.

amazing small town with a lot to explore!
amazing small town with a lot to explore! We didn't do much homework before we visit but after this trip we highly recommend to book on-line tickets for the mining museum tours; it shall be another high light beside city tours!
Very welcoming front desk lady (speaks English, what is quite rare, especially in East Germany hotels). We got a room with separate entry and small but cozy deck. Our car was parked few meters away. The room was spacious and clean, nicely decorated. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast with very wide choice of tasty food. Hotel located nearly in a center of fairy tale town Goslar. Few minutes of walk and you are in medieval surroundings accommodated by nice restaurants and shops. Goslar is impressive. Worth for visiting again for longer stay.
Hosts are very attentive and provide a lot of great info
Free parking spot very near by
Location wise this is probably one of the best spots in Goslar. It is in a quite neighbourhood but only 2 min walk from the main attractions.
There are free snacks, tea, coffee and beverages in the room, which adds to overall a great experience and the welcoming feeling.
Kitchen is well equipped and everything is clean and lovely.
Definitely recommended apartment for stay in Goslar
Relaxed family run hotel in a lovely location. Friendly staff, practical, spacious rooms and a good breakfast every morning. There's a lovely circular restaurant with an outside terrace, from which the hotel garden leads down to a lakeside path. Here you can take a stroll around the lake or set off on one of the many hiking trails. It's not far away from other amenities but far enough to feel secluded.
+ Outstanding breakfast, many home-made varieties of bread; imaginative flavors; one of the best breakfast experiences I've ever had while traveling
+ Tranquil and safe location with a garden
+ Warm-toned rooms that feel like someone's home, not cold and modern like most hotels
+ Lots of parking spaces
+ Proximity to bus stop for getting to the city center
Breakfast was super - loads of options and healthy alternatives, Lovely woman who was the hostess, etc. made me feel very welcome.
The location was perfect. 12 minute walk to train and less than that to the beautiful timbered and slate houses and churches. Goslar is amazing and the Rammelsburg mine should be visited!
The room was excellent, very cosy and clean. Very kid friendly hotel. The hotel is placed really well, right in the center of Goslar. Really nice breakfast and the staff was friendly and helpful. I've stayed at Alte Münze twice now and I can fully recommend it.
Beautiful hotel in a historic building that has been completely renovated. The rooms are modern and very comfortable. The „Altstadt“ (historic center) is just steps away. We like the quiet location. The beds are very comfortable and the room was spacious.
Very beautifully property, very clean and everything was fine. It was placed in the heart of Goslar in the old town center. The beds were really good and there was a bottle of welcome wine from the host. So nice surprise.
One of the best places I've ever stayed in.

The place is only minutes of walking away from the magnificent historic center of Goslar, although it is itself located in a very quiet neighborhood. We appreciated the warm welcome of the very helpful host.
