Canto do Ile was the highlight of our trip to Brasil. The property is absolutely beautiful, and the way it's set up brings everyone together in the dining room to make it feel like a home. Everyone who worked there treated us like friends that they have known forever -- Lisa, Sergio, Fabiano, Emilia, Daniel, Leonardo, Maruscka and Rafael were so warm and had such excellent recommendations for us. We loved our diving experience with Sergio and Emilia's cakes and cookies were incredible. The historic center is a must-see town with amazing food and views, and the short bike ride into town was a great way to see more of Paraty.

Paraty is surrounded by emerald green forests attached to mountains that plummet directly into turquoise waters or white-sand beaches. The cobblestone streets and colonial houses of the city centre pay homage to its Portuguese roots, and accessible islands and secluded beaches lure the sun-seeking crowds.
White buildings decorated with colourful door arches and window surrounds line the small lanes of the historic old town. The 17th-century First Church of Our Lady of the Remedies watches over the shaded eastern meeting point of Matriz Square.
North of the canal are Pontal and Jabaquara beaches that are split by the Perpetual Defender fortress, built by the British in the 18th century. Hiring a boat will take you out to more remote islands like diving hot spot Ilha dos Meros or unspoilt Paraty-Mirim Beach, south of the city.
As part of Brazil’s Costa Verde coast, the nearby Gold Trail and Serra da Bocaina National Park highlight the native Atlantic forest and fauna such as the sloth.

Paraty is a magical place. Worthwhile the trip. I visited the place in 2004 and now again after 20 years. Much has changed (many more shops and lots of boats), but the essence of the historical center and the magnificent bay did not. It will make you happy.

Paraty is a little bit of heaven.
Paraty is a little bit of heaven.
I love the water, the beaches, the islands and the jungle. Hire a boat and explore!
Every night the city is a block party with tables in the street and music spilling out of restaurants.
Don't miss the historical museum.

It’s a must see for any visitor or even Brazilian.
It’s a must see for any visitor or even Brazilian. A beautiful town with a historic center. The city has various nice restaurants (but usually quite pricy) and shops.
Since it’s not in the mountains, it’s easier to visit than for example ouro preto.

I think 1 or 2 nights is just right.
I think 1 or 2 nights is just right. It is nice to do a layover in Paraty because on the bus ride to and from (Rio/Sao Paulo) you can see quite a bit of the smaller towns and nature. If you did a bus direct from SP to Rio it would stick to the main highways and you wouldn't see as much. Worth a visit if you have time but keep in mind everything will be slightly more expensive as local tourists also like coming here. There are also lots of festivals so depending if you like festivals you could time your trip to coincide with one of them. During my stay there was a gastronomy festival which was pretty cool. They had cooking demonstrations and free samples of stuff.

Paraty is nothing more than a tourist trap and scam.
Paraty is nothing more than a tourist trap and scam. It is just 4 streets of colonial buildings with arrogant people. It is marketed extremely well as you believe that Paraty is a village of only colonial buildings however to our surprise they have added (obviously quite some time ago) more buildings and a bigger village the new town shall we call it. It is full of homeless people and danger the floor is disgusting and the people are intimidating. The supermarket is poorly built shed with insects everywhere and extremely overpriced. we left a day earlier than planned as we could not wait to escape the hell hole.

Paraty has a very smalll historical area.
Paraty has a very smalll historical area. Unless you want to take a boat trip you can view the area in a couple of hours. The beaches in Paraty itself are not very nice for swimming but outside there are beautiful beaches and areas.
I booked for a single night and now wish so much to go back to Paraty to spend more time at Fernanda's place. The house is such a joy, I was there with family and we all had a great, relaxing time. Everything tidy, with a great eco-friendly vibe (composting etc). Hammocks and outdoor couches surrounded by fruit trees and birds are awesome to chill outside. A 15-20min walk in a safe neighborhood is all that takes to reach the old city, so the location is a great tradeoff between relaxing while being near the main attractions
Gorgeous hotel, beautifully decorated. All staff was very pleasant and friendly, including the owner Lucy, and the breakfast was a highlight, very fresh and great options available.
The hot tub was a good addition to the room, great for relaxing in the end of the day after going out in tours around Paraty.
The receptionist Pedro was really helpful, specially recommending an amazing private boat tour.
Overall, a great experience with better cost benefit than the hotels in the city historical centre.
Everything! Very charming hotel boutique.Perched on a hill outside the town of Paraty, with a private beach, infinity pool and a breathtaking view of the ocean. Each room has a different décor, mine was on the second floor with a balcon , ideal for a sunrise lover like myself.Others surrounded by the beautiful Mata Atlântica…The staff is very nice and helpful , a special mention to Raquel , we had a wonderful time.Thank you Casa Luz for a memorable Christmas!🎄🎅
Paraty is the town of your dreams, and pousada Valhacouto is 5min walk from the cobblestone streets of the town centre. Really cool atmosphere at night with restaurants and bars at walking distance. Room was basic but good, it wasn't ready when we arriveed but we could leave our luggage locked at reception. It is a traditional building so all the ceilings/windows are wooden.
Beautiful romantic bangalos very well furnished and the hotel is surrounded by nature feels like a mini jungle with a pool. Very good location 10 min by car from the center. Transport can be provided by the hotel all day. Kaio and Camila are so nice they were very helpful with all arrangements and tips. I highly recommend staying with them in Paraty.
Beautifully decorated pousada (didn't get a chance to use the very inviting pool). Breakfast was best in Brasil for us! Our favourite fresh fruits and an introduction to many local pastries.... Junior, João, & the lady who served breakfast, were so helpful and pleasant. Casa Simone Pousada in Paraty is definitely worth a stay.
I had a fantastic experience at this hotel! The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the amenities exceeded my expectations. The location is convenient, and the overall atmosphere is welcoming. I highly recommend this hotel for a great stay!
Incredibly relaxing pousada, amazing hosts, super clean and well decorated, fantastic breakfast, excellent pool, VERY tasty breakfast, nice background music, safe parking on a quiet street, good location for exploring downtown Paraty or day tours to nearby areas, both west & east.
Walking distance from the historical centre of Paraty but in a very quiet area.
Typical pousada feel, lots of colours, greenery, and a quiet place.
The rooms are confortable, and the little private patio is very nice.
Nice breakfast.
Located in the old town on the water front
Amazing view from our spacious 2-level room. The receptionist was really nice welcoming and helpful. You can walk everywhere. The hotel is in an old beautiful house. Breakfast is delicious.
Located outside of Paraty our stay was very memorable. Monkeys came to visit at breakfast. Our visit coincided with a Brazilian July festival which was great. Lovely location overlooking the sea. Staff very nice.
Simone Pousada was like staying at a little oasis home away from home. The staff is lovely. the details are well thought of. the location is perfect. I would go back and highly recommend.
Room was extremely comfortable and beautiful in the perfect location. Hotel has very calm, tranquil vibe in the perfect location to explore paraty town. Very clean and lovely staff.
Nice hotel located in the center of Paraty.
Room was extremely noisy until late at night due to the AC from the kitchen being right in front of the window.
Good breakfast.
