Nice clean hotel in the center of the city. Very clean, quiet and had a comfortable bed. The breakfast was good with plenty of choices. We had a view over the rivet and there's a place to order snacks and drinks by the riverside. We'll be back!
Offering a terrace and views of the village and of the Guadiana River, Casa do Funil is located in the heart of Mértola's historic center in the Alentejo Region.

Paula was incredibly helpful and friendly. She gave us tons of information on the area/ things to do/ restaurants, and she was available to answer our questions. Could not have been more pleasant to us.

cozy, great location, clean, very functional little kitchen. Stupidly locked ourselves out and Marta came to hell right away, very appreciative of her.

I was previously staying in this hotel unit and the conditions were excellent and a pleasant stay, so this time i was a little disappointed, because in two nights, the dinner meal offered could be better quality if it did not repeat itself, there should be a code of conduct for the use of the pool (like playing the ball inside the swimming pool...) and despite the fact of positive worker effort, the service could be a little more attentive and helpful. My evaluation its a 3 stars hotel with a huge potencial do be too much better!!

We liked the place so much, quiet and gorgeous hotel.
We liked the place so much, quiet and gorgeous hotel. A building with a story, a surrounding with a story and the best staff with a story to tell. You feel in a different time, sitting on the terrace and enjoying the view over the garden and the trees and the mountains. Silence - stars in the sky! And very unique is you can see the stars and the moon by visiting the telescope - Very Unique - beautiful explanation. A Must see!

Our family has been staying at this hotel for many years, it’s a beautiful property with a privileged location if you want to get away from it all and re charge batteries. The staff is outstanding always happy to help and will go out of their way if need be to accommodate our needs. The food is lovely no complaints either. The only thing I would say is that needs bikes for rental they used to have them but they are gone, the boys loved the football tennis table but the bikes are a must please. Also didn’t like that there wasn’t a kettle or coffee maker in the room! Lastly some parts of the hotel need maintenance particularly the pool decking, we had to remove quite a few wood chips that got stuck to our feet. Having said this I will come back and I do recommend this hotel to families.

It's an amazing place, adjacent to the Mines which, in part, funded the building of the original manor house from which the hotel was converted...as it was the C19th owners home. Great conversion, excellent public spaces and huge bedrooms

Our room had a very spacious terrace which allowed us to watch stars in the evening. As São Domingos is located in the middle of nowhere, the conditions were ideal. As the rooms are named after constellations you can try to find the one which matches your room.
Breakfasts and dinners were very tasty and you can enjoy them outside with a view over a very nice patio. It even seems that the hotel has it's own hotel cat :)
The parking was free. We were even allowed to leave our car there for few hours after checking out.
We absolutely loved staying at this tiny house. The people were so friendly and the area very beautiful! We walked the circuit of the abandoned mines and loved it so much. We also wandered around the little streetss of the town and were amazed by the beauty and kindness of the people. Would definitely recommend coming here!
Beautiful manor renovated and expanded for more rooms. Good buffet for dinner and Good breakfast. It is the perfect spot to find calmness in the Alentejo countryside. Beautiful garden and pool. We had an issue with the AC and the hotel management immediately relocated us to an upgraded room. Nice and very helpful staff.
Very quiet rural location close to the Praia Fluvial and just a short drive from Mertola. Comfortable, clean hotel perfect for a short stay, with nice pool area, adequate buffet breakfast and friendly staff. We didn't try the hotel restaurant as choose to go to Mertola for dinner.
Lovely grounds and the swimming pool was such a bonus in the Alentejo heat.
The hotel staff were friendly and very helpful, Alex on reception and Jake in the restaurant in particular.
The evening meal option steak on stone was very good indeed.
I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
during December place reminded us of movie Shining, but just because we where the only guest. well us + one ther couple. staff was nice and hotel beautiful. really like to surroundings as well.
Always love staying at this hotel...the location is perfect for us to go paddleboarding on the lake.
Staff are super friendly...the hotel is lovely...breakfast is excellent.
Highly recommend!
Very nice hotel with free breakfast. The staff was super. The room is big and comfortabel. The hotel is historic. There was a lot of mining going on in 1860. The english owned the hotel.
Pleasant, spacious and clean hotel in a nice spot in Portugal. Staff is friendly and efficient. Arrangements can be made for several around the place activities.
