The hotel looks very nice. There is a laundry coin service available that was very handy - laundry detergent included for 300 yen. They also offer a service where they ship your luggage to your next destination - I haven't used it because I thought saving 20 euros was worth it but then I ended up spending all 20 euros on the claw machines and had to carry my own luggage.

Beautiful historical city like any other in the world.
Beautiful historical city like any other in the world. I recommend to visit local temples and shrines outside of the usual turist tracks because they are sometimes even more beautiful than the most famous ones. The are quiet and you can pray there calmly.

Kyoto is popular for good reasons - it has lots to offer with numerous shrines, temples, interesting old areas with wonderful architecture and a taste of the old Japan. We did some very enjoyable walking by the river as well as the delightful Philosopher's Path. It also has good connections to other places such as Nara so there is plenty to fill your days. Be aware though that it does get very busy.

Kyoto was our favorite city during our Japan trip.
Kyoto was our favorite city during our Japan trip.
We were also in Tokio, , Hakone, Osaka, Hiroshima and Kanazawa.
I would return to every city besides Osaka (not our vibe, too western, too dirty) and besides Kanazawa (Nice city with old Samurai buildings, but not much to see there)
Kyoto stood above the rest, even above our second favorite Tokio.
It was the perfect mix of traditional, modern and very high qualitiy of living (just see the train station, it's astonishing)

Kyoto is a gem.
Kyoto is a gem. If you like cities, and love art, but not crowds then Kyoto is for you. There are great places to eat, relax and learn about Japanese history, art and culture. Definitely go there and stay longer than you think. Everyone who I spoke with before going to Japan told me they wished they spent more time in Kyoto and I get it! Glad I listened and we stayed for half of our time in Japan!
Visit Toji Temple, get some hand made soba and udon, walk Philosophers Path, see temples and shrines, go to museums and do something with swords! Don't forget the bamboo forest, try the banana sesame smoothie. We got very lucky and ended up seeing the Murakami exhibit which was a completely awesome surprise as it had just opened!
It's super easy to get around. If you have. JR pass use it! Pair it with an IC card (pasmo or welcome suica or suica, etc.) and I recommend using the local busses also. You can get around faster or as fast and taxis are much more expensive.
Also we used Kyoto to visit Hiroshima and Osaka. Super easy to get to both with a JR pass. We didn't make it to Nara, though it was also close.
Hope this helps and hops you have a great time!

Kyoto on 1st presentation is a modern,, not particularly attractive, city. However, the historic areas, particularly the gardens, are well worth seeking out. It is also interesting to see a contemporary city that is not overwhelming Western. Kyoto has its own character.
The best thing about the hotel is the location: it is close to multiple stations on two subway lines as well as multiple bus stops, making it easy to travel to the convention center and various site seeing spots. It's also easy walking distance the main shopping areas and the Gion area.
The hotel is also very attractive overall, but especially the front, lobby, and sentou areas. The rooms seems to choose looks over function in a number of places where I would prefer better function, but the rooms did look good (overall).
Firstly I loved the look and feel of this hotel, it felt very traditional and true to the Kyoto area with a modern twist. The onsen (traditional hot spring pool) was amazing and felt like a luxury which many other more expensive hotels don’t have. The room although simple was lovely (although it felt a bit smaller than the pictures). Breakfast was good (but not the best we had compared to the hotels we stayed in Japan). Finally the location was perfect, just minutes away from the Gion district and many restaurants and temples.
The staff is excellent. They are very helpful and attentive. They always greeted us when we would leave the hotel and come back. Very modern and clean facility. The breakfast was the star of the show. The hotel breakfast may have been one of the best meals we have ate on this Japan trip and we have been to Japan multiple times before. We at there twice in 3 days. There is a also a very good grocery store underneath the hotel. This hotel is great for families also. We highly recommend this hotel.
The hotel was located at the prime location within Kyoto’s Gion. The spaces were impeccably clean and our room was very comfortable. It was also nicely decorated, in Japanese style. The hotel has an onsen, which is quite a relaxing experience after a long day of walking and exploring Kyoto. However, the absolute best part about our stay was very attentive staff who put efforts to ensure our luggages reach us at our upcoming destination. We would love to stay here again.
One of the best guesthouse I had stayed in Japan!Everything was perfect. It’s hidden in a very quiet neighborhood but location is really good, because it’s close to subway station, konbini and near Gion.
You can feel the ryokan vibe when it comes to furniture and design. Very comfortable and big beds. Nice balcony. Clean rooms, bathrooms, kitchen. Wi-if works perfectly. You can also make a laundry for free! Affordable price.
This team exceeded my expectations. What a gorgeous hotel, lobby and room. We loved our stay in the comfort room. Honestly; this was our best stay during our 14-day holiday in Japan. The metro station is within 100 meters from te hotel and the nice team at Rakuro arranged a bike-rental for us, they brought us the bikes at the hotel. Many thanks for the nice team, making our stay the best! We hope to return some day.
The location is perfect. Hotel Kuu is so close to everything. 10 minutes walk to Kyoto Station. 2 minutes walk to the nearest bus stop. Lots of restaurants nearby. The best part is the public bath. It was so relaxing to soak yourself in the hot water after a long day's walk. The outside pool is built of volcanic rocks from Mountain Fuji. That water is magic. It makes your skin so smooth.
Excellent excellent hotel. The facilities were clean, staff was wonderful. This was the best of the 4 hotels I booked during my trip in Japan. It was close to the main station as well as many other bus and subway stations. In a perfect part of town. Beds were comfy, the room had a lot of natural light, and a large bathroom - something which is quite rare in Japan it seems
This is, for sure, the best hotel that my husband and I have been in. The room was super big, cozy and clean, there were free amenities for costumers, it was super close to the subway station and the staff speaks English very well.
There are so many cool things inside the hotel that there was a day that we decided just to chill there.
The price is also excellent!
Best hotel I’ve been so far in Japan! The room is spacious, there is a small kitchen, microwave and fridge… and its own washing machine!
The checkin and checkout process are smooth (no reception at all), and the location is 5 minutes from a metro station and 20 minutes walking from the main Kyoto station.
Perfect!
Everything was amazing. The whole hotel looks new and clean. Breakfast had good choices and everything we tried were delicious. Staff can speak english. Bathroom was the best I have seen in a hotel. Strategic location since the subway station is literally just beside the hotel.
Hands down! One of the best hotels I've ever been, staff are super nice and helpful, very clean, location about 7 minutes walk from Nijo station, very minimalist decor and you can even do laundry (300 ¥ washing m. 100 ¥ drying machine for 30 minutes)
Probably one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at. It’s right across Kyoto Station, the room I got has great space. The bed is comfortable and the bathroom is clean. The breakfast was generally okay though I wish they would put allergy labels on them.
staff was very polite and the hotel was super clean! definitely the best stay we had while in Japan! would stay here all of the time if I could. a short walk to the station and to the Main Street where all of the shops and stores are.
Very quiet even though it was located on a main street. Super near Gion and a subway station 3 min walk from the hotel. Convenience store below the hotel.
The room's style reminds of a Ryokan. Beds are very comfy.
Best place we have stayed at while travelling around Japan. The rooms are a decent size, it’s a beautiful hotel in a very good location close to Gion and train stations. Fabulous breakfast including wagyu steak!
Location is the best of this hotel. It is close to the station, and Kyoto has a great train coverage. If you are looking for a place where you'll only sleep after a long day of walk, it is a good place.
The best part of the hotel is the position super close to Kyoto JR station, which is very useful if you need to travel the Kansai region a lot. That's all, nothing more nothing less.
