Spent 3 days in Halong, main purpose was to do a 2 day 1 night Halong Bay cruise, which we did.
The weather is not the fault of Halong but hotel, where we stayed 3 nights, staff said that March, April, weather is overcast, a lot of wet fog, quite miserable, which is what we found.
Explored quite a bit of HL, nothing of interest, wouldn’t recommend it and couldn’t wait to leave.

Halong bay is wonderful, but Verdure cruise was overpriced for the service. The food was not all Vietnamese as advertised and water was very limited. We were only offered one small bottle each over the 2 days. In fact what they call their 2 day cruise was actually less than 24 hours on the boat. Take your own alcohol if you like a drink because te onboard prices were outrageous - for example 900000 Vietnamese dong for a bottle of wine that costs 1500 to 200000 on land.

We had looked at many options for sailing on Halong Bay and read descriptions from many sources. Based on what we read, we chose Essence Grand Halong Bay Cruise and we do not regret that choice at all because it met all our expectations and more. We felt like royalty the entire time.

Lovely place to visit. Ha Long market is worth a look.
Lovely place to visit. Ha Long market is worth a look. The cruise around Ha Long bay is stunning. I would recommend booking this trip via reception. Cheaper trips are available but the boats don't look as comfortable and food, activities etc are all extra whereas they're included in the one booked via the hotel. An excellent day out.

The overnight cruises, as currently set, up are a rip off.
The overnight cruises, as currently set, up are a rip off. They hardly sail past a strait line from the port where you still can see the city. You see the same bolder up close. And anchore in the same spot with most of the view taken by other cruise ships.
The best way is to stay at a hotel and take a day cruise l, or a few it’ll cost 2-3 times less.

A two day cruise into Ha Long Bay was the absolute highlight of our time in Vietnam. However, Sun World theme park should not be missed. Further enjoyment can be found on the hop-on-hop-off tour bus, once you feel comfortable with the city, use Grab to get cheap taxis. We found some great places to eat around the main Sun World entrance.
The breakfast was good - big size portions and offered alternatives for vegetarians. You had an option of western or Vietnamese breakfast so everyone was catered for. Juice and english breakfast tea was a nice addition. The staff were really friendly and helpful - they helped us book our tours to Ha Long Bay and allowed us to have free late check out. The room service food was really nice and affordable prices. Would definitely recommend staying here if you are interested in visiting the bays as the hotel is not far from the port.
We did a one-night cruise of Ha Long Bay.
Genesis’s organisation of our transport from Hanoi was very efficient.
The room on board was surprisingly large and had a well-appointed bathroom with a bath.
Although the weather was rainy almost all our time on board, all the promised activities took place.
The food was plentiful and the quality was surprisingly good.
The staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful. They helped to make the trip a really enjoyable experience in spite of the weather.
The trip was comfortable, convenient, and exciting from beginning to end. The rooms were lovely - with a large bathroom, and floor to ceiling window to lay in bed and watch Ha Long Bay from. The balconies were ideal as well. We particularly loved the size of the boat, as it was smaller than other cruises and the amount of guests did not feel crowded at all. Bruce was an amazing cruise manager and Nam was an attentive and professional waiter. We will definitely join Dora cruise again!
We spent the first day going to the sunworld park and cable car it was a short walk down to the main street after arriving around 11am. The hotel helped us with booking a 4 hour from 2pm to 6pm 2nd day and a 6 hour from 12pm to 6pm 3rd day Ha Long bay cruise. we are now waiting to head to Sapa around 10pm which will take about a 7 hour drive to arrive around 6 or 7am.
The price was fair and the staff spoke decent English which made everything easy.
Having a full sized hotel suite on a cruise boat exceeded our expectations. Ammenities were modern and luxurious. Combined with the setting (beautiful Lan Ha/Ha Long Bay) and this was a truly magical experience. We were well looked after by Kevin our waiter who attended to us throughout the 3 day, 2 night cruise. Thank you Kevin!! Tom (Cruise!) the GM has a wonderful team who are all exceptional. This was a trip that we will never forget.
Everything. Food was excellent. Our butler Jack was superb and attentive. Tom the tour guide explained the itinerary in detail and had everything perfectly under control and always present to answer questions. Our room was large and we got a big balcony. The kayaking was well organized and there was time for swimming. The bathroom with a beautiful bathtub and shower, from the bathtub a big window gives one a great view of Ha Long Bay.
The hotel itself is immaculate, the staff go above abd beyond in every single capacity. I would like to give a special mention about Pham Viet Ahn (Benjamin) who looked after me and my girlfriend throughout with a constant smile as well as giving us a free upgrade. Also amazing were Than Duc Nguyen and Nghia who welcomed us very warmly. The room was exceptional with panoramic views from multiple bay windows across Ha long bay.
This is the best cruise in Ha Long Bay. The food and rooms are spectacular. I opted for the Executive Suite; book early as there are only 2 on board. We did one night but I write this as we are ending our stay a S wish we booked another night. The room was modern with floor-to-ceiling windows. We had Alice as our butler. She was spectacular!!! She went above and beyond to ensure our trip was amazing. We will be back.
Definitely a highlight on our Vietnam trip and an absolute must! Ha Long Bay is amazing.
The Erina staff was super friendly and very helpful, especially Kim and Lucas, who looked after us.
We did have one small issue, we booked an extra large double bed but instead got two singles, Kim immediately offered to move us to a different room to accommodate our needs.
We would definitely recommend this cruise!
The staff were very attentive, sometimes too attentive but did the best they could to help us. Hotel was very spacious and when we went, we were probably the only guests in the hotel so we had all the space we wanted in the pool. The staff has been extremely helpful with booking taxis and tours for us. One of the few places in Ha Long Bay with air conditioning.
The food is excellent. Our tour guide, Hiếu, is friendly and funny, and always tries to take care of us. He also gave us some tips on where to buy souvenirs in Hanoi. The cruise went though amazing scenery and I'm so so so glad we booked this one because it does feel like we own the place ourselves, without being surrounded by other cruises like in Ha Long Bay.
Good location in the middle of town, and for us getting a cruise in Ha Long Bay the next day.
Room was very spacious, clean and comfortable - it felt more like a 4-5* hotel rather than 3!
There was only us and one other guest staying at the same time, so it was very quiet too.
Very confortable. Staff so attentive and very friendly. Manager Huy gave us good support and interesting information about locations visited during our stay. Our tour to the village was one of the high spots of the trip. Highly recommended! Good choice for a Ha Long Bay tour.
Discovered the impressive Ha Long Bay on this cruise. Guide was great and fun, activities were various, no time to be bored. Other people on the cruise were very friendly so had a wonderful almost 24hours. Food was really good and many meals on the boat!
At Nang Villa Ha Long, live like local people. Quite an interesting local tourist experience. Recommended by the villa owner to visit the deserted island for local people instead of going to the bay, our group was quite interested in the experience here.
Great location. Very close and over looking Ha Long Bay. The host gave us discount for the inconvenience of the power being out for several hours, as well as not being placed in the right rental unit we originally booked.
The owners are the nicest people ever!!
The best coffee in Vietnam, hands down.
Location is perfect for the pier, if you’re going for a tour to Ha Long Bay.
