Le Touquet combines the glamour of Paris with the tranquillity of the Opal Coast. Created by the founder of ‘Le Figaro’ newspaper, this exclusive holiday resort soon became a popular retreat for rich residents of the French capital, hence the suffix: Paris-Plage.
The town’s wide sands begin at the mouth of the Canche River and are lined with a promenade and colourful beach huts. Further south the promenade fades into sand dunes, overlooked by a golf course.
Other pursuits include a racecourse and a ritzy casino which was supposedly the inspiration for the one frequented by James Bond in ‘Casino Royale’. Ian Fleming did stay here, as did other famous authors including HG Wells and Sir Noël Coward, and other famous faces have graced the halls of Westminster Hôtel, a luxury Art Deco property available on Booking.com.
Le Touquet-Paris-Plage also has B&Bs and apartments dotted around its small town centre. Some are on the Rue St Jean shopping street and the perpendicular Rue de Metz, which has a semi-circular market square.
One of the town’s larger events is the Enduropale motorbike and quad bike race across the sands, and many competitors arrive via Le Touquet Airport. More family-friendly entertainment is the Aqualud waterpark, complete with slides and swimming pools.

We love fish food and although the food in the hotel was excellent, what we most enjoyed was the restaurant 'Aux Pecheurs d'Etaples' above the fish market in nearby Etaples. The atmosphere overlooking the marina as the sun was setting was magical and the oysters are to die for! We will go back, even just for that! Then there is the fish market below which is so amazing it has to be seen to be believed. What is wrong with us Brits: we live on island and yet we can offer little more than simple fish and chips?

Le Touquet-Paris Plage is a chic, upmarket resort with beautiful shops, the most interesting architecture, and a Saturday market that is not to be missed. The beautiful sand dunes and parks are fantastic for cyclists, walkers, runners and children. Something for everyone. The seafront itself lacks restaurants and cafes (they abound a couple of streets back) but some enterprising people have roped off themed areas on the vast expanse of beach serving drinks and food served under colourful umbrellas. My only gripe, there should be more buses.

A little run down but the floor we were on was in the process of being refurbished. Service was average but probably expected more from a four star hotel. Unlike other hotels in the area, English was not easily understood. A very nice and pleasant location, not a problem but a 20 minute stroll into the main part of the town.

Just such a beautiful place.
Just such a beautiful place. It is expensive, but proportionally so. Its a high class seaside resort, and plenty of variety and choice of places to eat to adapt to budget.
Just a stunning place to visit.

I have been to Le Touquet many times and always enjoy going.
I have been to Le Touquet many times and always enjoy going. There is plenty to do for a short break (around 3 days) without driving as the town is compact and flat so easy to walk round.
It has a good selection of shops and a good sized Saturday and Thursday market.
There is loads to choose from for eating to suit whatever tastes you have, I always go to the Creperie on the main street.
The nature reserve is a pleasant walk and if the lighthouse is open it is worth the climb to get amazing views.
It is a place I will return to time and again.

Catering in France is not something that inspires- we did six different departments on our tour of France. Every single menu was the same, with one exception Le Table in le Touquet- exceptional. Lamb Tagine best meal in two weeks. Roscoff seafood was the polar opposite- extortionate for something that comes out of a freezer. langoustines do actually exist fresh at the market, but most places opt for the frozen food option. It s small, tastes of nothing and priced so high you might want to remortgage your house to afford. What’s happened the French cooking???

Spacious room with comfortable beds, balcony, Wi-Fi, kitchen with fridge/plates/utensils, two cooker hobs etc. Very clean throughout. Located next to Le Touquet racecourse and within easy drive of the town centre with plenty of restaurants open even in early October. They only supplied a coffee maker in the room, however a very helpful young lady managed to find me a kettle. Very pleasant stay and friendly staff. Wi-Fi reception excellent in our room. Would stay again.
We stayed in a nice spacious room, including minibar, table, hairdryer, bathtub. All looked refurbished. The bed was comfortable and the heating worked perfectly well. We considered it exceptional for a 2 star hotel. The staff was very helpful, they explained where can we park for free. Very good breakfast was available for 12 Euros in a nice, cozy dining room.
Location is fantastic … you can see the sea as you step to the right onto the path outside hotel!
Turn to the left and the shops are a short walk away!
A real bonus is that the hotel has a car-park (15€ a day) … which is like gold in central Le Touquet!
Plushly furnished, with beautiful lounge and bar.
Gorgeous patio for sitting outside in the summer!
This is a self catering property. Very good for preparing your own meals. Good for a family of four (comfortable double bed and two bunks for kids). Our reason for choice was free car parking and the swimming pool. A little too far to walk into Le Touquet for us but we managed it. The living space was good for two but might be cramped for four adults.
The lady who was there was amazing, she was so helpful and was able to arrange multiple taxis for us when there was no public transport. She was attentive and caring and I felt very welcomed, the breakfast she made in the morning was delicious. If I return to Le Touquet I will most definitely use this hotel❤️
The owner sound like a very nice lady. The person who host us was also very nice and very helpful.
The bedrooms were more spacious than expected. Everyone had their own space. Windows orientation create great ventilation across the all flat. Great location, we did use our car.
Accommodation was spacious enough for family of 4. There were always plenty of parking spaces. Pretty area surrounding the accommodation. Close to the grand Hotel for cocktail after kids gone to bed.
Good location close to the beach, restaurants and shops. The staff are helpful and friendly! Nice spacious room with good facilities. Generous and varied breakfast choice. Would stay again.
Great property, ideal location for visiting Le Touquet - town and beach costal walks. Everything you need rooms have facilities for cooking fridge etc. spacious and very good value.
Location is fantastic, right on the beach. The hotel is modern, smart and had really good facilities including pool and spa. Breakfast is lovely with lots of choice.
I have stayed at the Westminster many times but the Hotel has undergone a full refurbishment during The lockdown and is now simply stunning and much improved
