Open-plan and open-minded, Cambridge is best known for universities dating to the 13th century. King’s College is the most popular, and its chapel choir is internationally famous. Although accessed from cobbled King’s Parade, it is best viewed from a punt on The Backs, the part of the River Cam behind.
Taking a flat bottomed punt in Cambridge is an institution and gives great views of Queen’s College Mathematical Bridge and the Bridge of Sighs at St John’s College. Upstream is Jesus Green, site of an outdoor pool and a fantastic beer festival. Next to this is Midsummer Common, a park home to the annual Strawberry Fair (and the occasional cow). Opposite are the college boathouses - get up early to see the rowers in action!
Cows also roam the Mill Pond meadow, where the river leads south to Grantchester, a quaint village with a lovely cafe. Places to eat in Cambridge include riverside restaurants and typical English pubs like The Eagle, drinking hole of DNA founders Watson & Crick.
Cambridge shopping options include a daily market (in Market Square), the Grafton Centre and the exclusive Grand Arcade, the latest addition. The Scott Polar Museum and free Fitzwilliam Museum are 2 of many fantastic Cambridge museums.
Stansted Airport is connected by train to the city’s accommodations choices on Booking.com.
Beautiful area with amazing buildings! Easy to walk everywhere. Lots of cafes to find something to eat, and this includes the market. Many green areas. Perhaps if a taxi is required, pre book it as mine did not arrive. Lots of lovely shops if you wish to go shopping, including ice cream shops.
Worth going on a punt tour as you learn so much and all questions are answered with detail. You get to see the other view of the colleges and various bridges that you cannot see due to colleges being closed to visitors as students are studying.

Fitzwilliam was fabulous, excellent staff throughout.
Lunch in Fitzbillies was amazing, again lovely staff and the food was the best I’ve had in a while.
Books shops and art galleries a plenty which meant we run out of time before seeing the 39 steps at the arts theatre. A brilliant day.

Not a good idea to go mid-may as most colleges are closed to visitors with "keep out" signs and guards to enforce it, and that just adds to how posh the place looks and feels. The Scott polar research exhibit was the absolute highlight of my stay though

We didn't visit the Centre of Cambridge.
We didn't visit the Centre of Cambridge.
We visited the Museum of the History of Computing which was fascinating! We then travelled across Cambridge to Eddington to stay at the Hyatt Centric for the night.
We chose this hotel as it was opposite The Storey's Field Centre which was hosting a concert.
The hotel was excellent, in house restaurant The Astronomer catered well for vegetarians.
Eddington is a really lovely area, well thought out, looks new and clean and inviting! Love to go back

Have been in this historic town several times.
Have been in this historic town several times. Always mesmerised by the beauty, culture, historic presence, academic ethos of this town. There are different characteristic colleges of Cambridge University within short walking distance. A lot to see, experience and great food. Lovely scenery, green space and enjoyable stroll along River Cam. Impressive architecture. Very fond of Cambridge with good memories. The museums contain treasure. Not enough time to see everything. Will come again.
Our superior room was beautifully decorated and had some little extra touches that made it quite special. For example, the lovely proper teapot and cups and saucers ... very welcoming after a day out walking around Cambridge. Also the accent vases and cushions, etc. .... it felt like we were staying in a fine home rather than a hotel with items secured to tables and walls. The weekend breakfast buffet was one of the best we have ever had, while the regular breakfast table service on the Monday was also very excellent.
I was informed that my booking was transferred to their sister hotel - Arundel House Hotel. I had an exceptional experience there with my daughter. The hotel’s location was excellent, right next to the big park and river, 12min walk away from the city centre. The room was clean, spacious, quiet, free parking, friendly staff, service was a top notch and excellent breakfast and dinner! We really enjoyed our stay and I will definitely stay again at Arundel hotel if I come back to Cambridge for a short stay.
Good hotel in an excellent central location in Cambridge, with parking. My room was spacious and shower/bathroom facilities were excellent as well. Staff were all really pleasant and helpful; I had a couple of special requests in terms of slightly late check out and invoicing and they accommodated me without any issues. Sadly, I had a poor meal in the restaurant in the evening but they refunded the cost without issue
I live in Cambridge and booked it for visiting family because of the perfect location. It’s quiet, but essentially in downtown and an easy walking distance from Parkside (the national express from Heathrow). The place itself exceeded my expectations, it’s a lovely flat with very comfortable amenities. My parents loved the giant king bed. Shower also got glowing reviews. I would definitely pick this place again.
We had a very pleasant 3 night stay in this small hotel located on the main road, 15 minutes walk from the city centre. We had a room facing the back garden, so traffic noise wasn’t a problem.
The staff are very friendly and helpful, with good advice on the attractions and restaurants of Cambridge.
Good selection of continental buffet breakfast, the croissants were particularly good.
Modern clean hotel with restaurant just next to Cambridge railway station. Very kind staff.
There are few places just next to it, Nero cafe, Sainsbury local, Tavern restaurant..
It is 1 mile from city center. Used the bus to go city and back - 2 lines1, 3 and 7 citi run from city center through the railway station. Buses has family day ticket that cover 2 adults and 3 kids (13 pound)
It was second time that we stayed in this hotel .Rooms are not very big but just enough to fit two big suitcases.Bed was comfy and bathrooms was clean. They serve both English breakfast and various different foods in the breakfast. It is 10 mins driving to Cambridge city centre by car.If you would not have car , it might be diificult to go to the city. There is also free car park.
The hotel is modern, the location is great and my room was spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable. The tv in the room is huge. Breakfast was exceptional, I can't think of anything that wasn't on offer. The staff is super helpful and polite. I will definitely choose this hotel for my next trips to Cambridge.
We arrived after a tiring journey, feeling tired, but within a minute of walking into reception. Eva on reception lightened our mood with her friendly, helpful attitude. We have stayed at a number of hotels in Cambridge, but this is the best for value for money, room size, cleanliness and staff attitude.
Great location. Walking distance to Cambridge and the city center. There is a co-op just across the road. Will was there to greet at the property and he is very responsive to answer any queries. The property is well equipped (including a washer/dryer and a dishwasher) and well maintained.
Property was amazing in a new neighborhood by parks and schools. It is a developing neighborhood with a Grocery Store 50 yards from the hotel. It had 2 eateries nearby. We really enjoyed the one night we were there.
Beautiful area, definitely more conveniently accessible by car rather than public transport if you are visiting Cambridge. But there's taxis too.
Super easy and painless self check in/out process.
This location is not as close to Cambridge as I thought. It is a new hotel with lovely rooms and excellent breakfast. There are very decent dining establishments very close.
The room was clean and spacious. I was impressed with the refrigerator, which is exceptional in UK hotels. The location is ideal (almost the city centre of Cambridge).
Lovely boutique hotel and the decor is gorgeous.
Rooms are lovely, with air con and we had a balcony room overlooking the river.
Great location for Cambridge.
