Easygoing and green, Nantes is the gateway to the Loire Valley. On a delta between the Loire, Erdre and Sèvre rivers, this once important port is now an innovation pioneer.
A former shipyard, the Île de Nantes in the Loire now has bars, clubs and restaurants. However, its most intriguing feature is the Machines of the Isle of Nantes, a collection of weird and wonderful mechanical sculptures – you can even take a ride on the elephant.
Across the river is the moat-surrounded Chateau des Ducs de Bretagne, a fortified castle and former home of Breton Dukes. A few streets away is Nantes Cathedral, whose façade is reminiscent of the one in Reims. Place du Bouffay in the historic city center is home to many restaurants and bars, while the 19th-century shopping center Passage Pommeraye has a range of stores over 3 levels. For a taste of daily life head to Talensac market.
Other Nantes attractions are the Japanese Garden at Île de Versailles in the Erdre, the former shipowners’ houses at Île Feydeau, and the Jules Verne Museum, celebrating the city’s most famous son.
Don’t head to Nantes Airport from your Booking.com hotel, apartment or B&B without having tried the local speciality – crêpes. Delicieux!

Public transport is excellent, and free at weekends!
Public transport is excellent, and free at weekends! We had excellent fish and chips at Brady's Pub near the Station. My favourite place to visit was the Elephant and Le Jardin Extraordinaire. Nantes has managed to reduce traffic in the centre and make it pleasant to walk everywhere. I walked over 70 Km during a 2 week stay at 75 years of age!!!

The Chateau of the dukes of Brittany is a first class tourist attraction a two minute walk from the hotel. There is an excellent museum of the history of Nantes and an unmissable exhibition about Genghis Khan. There are no translations from the French - but Genghis Khan has an English audio guide.
We also enjoyed hanging out in the Botanical Gardens also a short walk away.
Nantes has amazing public transport with five tram lines. They are free on Saturdays and Sundays!

I went by train specifically to visit an exhibition at the Chateau and the hotel was perfectly placed both for that and the railway station.
The restaurant I had chosen proved too far for this weary traveller. I ate near the Chateau at La Loco (recommended by the hotel). Largely a fish menu; what I ate was freshly prepared and perfectly cooked.

Nantes is a very photogenic city with great architecture and fabulous river views. It has a good selection of high street and independent shops and restaurants with cuisines from across the world. The trams are reasonably priced and are free to use at the weekend. The Jardin des Plantes is lovely to stroll around, showcasing so many different plants and trees. Nantes is well worth a visit.
I am absolutely delighted with my experience at this hotel, travelling from Ireland all down France to the south of Spain and have stayed in a few places when we weren’t camping. This is by far our favourite place we’ve stayed. The man that hosted us was just spectacular and super kind, very welcoming, the place itself was perfect too and had everything we needed and more! Thank you so much!
If you arrive at the Nantes train station, make sure to get out through the South Side exit. Then the hotel is just 2 minutes walk away. If take the north exit you are going to get lost...
I had a small room on 4th floor under the ceiling, which was very hot in July. The double bed and pillow were good. Very good bathroom and shower. There are a few bars nearby.
Excellent location at the end of the historical centre, but half way to the Island of Nantes so perfect to explore both.
Staff was very kind and helpful, they organised the early check in for me, gave some useful tips.
Room was very clean. Basic, but above 1* it holds.
Reception is not open whole night, but you can easily enter with the door code at any time.
Adrienne on reception was so so helpful and nice. This is a budget hotel. You get what you pay for. The location is brilliant, in the centre with shops, transport on your doorstep. There was a slight issue with the booking sonwe were given 2 free breakfasts both mornings. I would definitley recommend this hotel if you are looking for cheap and cheerful.
A very comfortable room with the welcome addition of a kettle and drinks. The room was quiet and had everything we needed. The host was very welcoming and quiet and gave us lots of information. Breakfast was great, including homemade pancakes and caramel sauce. The property is in walking distance of Nantes city centre or there are nearby buses and trams.
Comfortable bedrooms, spacious living room, good supplies of essentials, perfect location: near to the centre of Nantes, yet quiet. Fairly easy parking on the street. Walking distance to the station. Everything we needed for a family Christmas in Nantes.
Perfect location in the city centre, quiet, cosy, very clean, very well (and rather recently) renovated, lovely deco. Felt right at home. Communication with owner went very smoothly. Coffee and tea facilities and fully equipped kitchen.
Lovely peaceful apartment..Don't be deceived the the slightly rustic external building, this is a hidden gem and super east to get to Nantes centre in the bus or tram. Lovely little kids park too over the road.
Clean and not far from centre. Decent preakfast. Possibility to use the car park (13€/day) despite the fact that was it very tiny and difficult to use if you drive a big car.
The hotel is located in the city center, at walking distance from all the important tourist attractions in Nantes. The room was big, comfortable and quiet.
A hotel in an interesting location, close to the beautiful Nantes center with a parking place nearby for up to 90 minutes and the necessary facilities.
