The Leaning Tower, Cathedral, the Wall, Battistero, Camposanto are all worthy of more than one day.
Also, the city has a lot more to be seen, along Arno and the many Piazza's with a plethora of restaurants and charming streets.

The trip to the Tower was excellent once we got in.
The trip to the Tower was excellent once we got in. Unfortunately the booking came through late though - made through Viator via Booking.com. So take care if doing this. I would go direct to the main website another time. Pisa itself was fairly quiet - went in April. Very pleasant.

Pisa is an interesting city in itself, besides being a good centre for visiting Lucca and probably Florence (avoid much of the crowds!). It is flat, as is Lucca, so good for those who want to go to Italy but find climbing up and down hills hard work (Siena/Perugia). You need good shoes to walk around Italian cities because the paving is authenticallly rough and uneven.
I would certainly invest in a good map of the city, rehterht an the one provided generously by the Tourist Office.

I visited Pisa as an add on to 3 days in Florence as my flight landed in Pisa from Luton. I therefore booked to stay for a 2 night stay which only really gave me one full day in Pisa.
This was just right for the leaning Tower and the buildings of the Miracoli Square including 2 museums, the Bapistry, the Duomo and the compasanto. The Duomo is stunning and the hilight but the leaning tower is a memerising sight. I managed to spend a good 5 hours there including lunch on the terrace at the museum and a timed climb up the tower booked for later in the day. (you have to book a timed slot to climb)
With hindsight i did regret not having at least one more full day in Pisa as i would have liked to have seen the rest of the city including the Botanical Gardens which was shut during my visit.
Please be aware that it gets busy so it may be worth booking the leaning tower climb online before you go.

To be honest, there is not a huge amount to view in Pisa as a tourist. Compared to Florence and Siena it feels more like a 'proper' town rather than a tourist-trap. That's not to say it isn't worth a visit; it is! The Leaning Tower is so famous it is a must-see if you are in the area. The Duomo and associated attractions are also very special for their architecture and are worth a view (in my opinion). Pisa airport is close to the city and cheaper to fly in to from London (and less busy) than flying to other Tuscan destinations, so I recommend it.
The train from the airport to the city is easy and costs about €7 but if you are more than one person take a taxi, which should work out cheaper! Also, we booked a train ticket from Pisa to Florence in advance... big mistake. There was no need to book and buying local was simple and cheap; just €8 per person. It takes an hour on the train (if you chose carefully) and if you think that the Airport to Pisa train takes 5 minutes and costs a similar amount, then one of them is good value and one isn't! I'll let you work out, which-is-which :-)
We stayed in a small hotel (Amalfitana) close to the attractions which was adequate, not great, but had a brilliant restaurant attached named "La Corte di San Leonardo"... we loved the food here so try it out, even if you do not stay at the hotel.
Don't stay too long... unless you use Pisa as a base to travel out to other towns, there's not much to do.
This is an excellent little hotel -- Great value- very comfortable and clean. It is within 15 minutes easy walk from the airport terminal, but it isn't a noisy hotel at all. We have travelled via Pisa on a few occasions, but this is the best B&B we've used in the area. We will certainly use it again on our next trip. Breakfast was nice and fresh, in a really interesting dining area. There are decent restaurants for an evening meal within a couple of hundred metres if you follow the road to the left as you leave the gate.
The location was excellent - right across from the train station, and a block away from the bus stop that took us straight to the tower of Pisa. Our host responded immediately to our text and was outside the hotel ready to greet us when we arrived and show us to our rooms. There was no lift and we had heavy suitcases which he effortlessly carried for us up all the stairs! The rooms were large, comfortable and clean. Some street noise early in the evening but quiet during the night.
During our stay at Hotel Verdi, we were always greeted at reception by the most loveliest people. We would like to give a special mention to Veronica, who is a new worker at the Hotel, and was extremely helpful and kind, she must be a pleasure to work with! This hotel is a great option when on a budget, you have everything you need, the rooms are clean, there is Wi-Fi, a safe, a hairdryer and most importantly it is in the city centre and close to the tower of Pisa.
Staff are very helpful and friendly. All the concierge staff spoke English.
The rooms were made up everyday immaculately.
The Hotel is city centre walking distance to the tower etc.
The railway station is very close 10 min walk from the hotel and the trains, unlike in England run on time!
After doing Pisa, Lucca, Florence, and Livorno are only a short distance away.
There's a fantastic Nature Reserve close by but when I visited the visitor centre was closed.
This was the best place we stayed when we were in Italy, the rooms where carefully renovated and in a very clean and tasteful way. It is a five min walk from the leaning tower and about 20 mins walk from the train station. Also, the breakfast tickets that we got for Pasticceria DolcePisa - Vegan & Gluten Free Option, Via Santa Maria, 83, 56126 Pisa PI, Italien, served us a very yummie breakfast. We couldn’t be happier that we chose this place!
we arrived early and Milena met us there to allow us to store our luggage until our room was ready. She referred us to a family owned pizza restaurant next to the B&B to eat at. The pizza was the best we’ve had on our trip around Italy!! When we arrived back at the time suggested Milena informed us that she upgraded our room! Such a sweet nice lady Milena is. She made our stay in Pisa perfect and memorable! Thank you again Milena!
All the staff (family??) were exceedingly attentive. The property is well located for the station, tower and airport (by taxi).
The room was well furnished with traditional Italian furniture. A very good (optional) cold breakfast spread, which, for us, was 12 euro extra each per day.
We had spent around 2 weeks travelling round Italy using 6 hotels - this was the best hotel we stayed in.
This was our best stay during our roadtrip through Italy. Paolo was super friendly, check-in was easy and fast. The room was so nice and so clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good. The swimming pool is perfect for cooling down after visiting Pisa (only 5km away from the B&B). Definitely would recommend staying at Vecchio Granaio and would definitely book again!
It’s definitely the best property we have stayed in Italy! It’s very high level, wonderfully designed, with good-quality materials, very new, spotless and comfortable. The location is absolutely amazing, right in the centre by all attraction and the leaning tower just 10 min away. And the breakfast is probably in the best cafe in town!
Very close to airport and the was ok to stay one night. It was clean enough and warm especially during winter time 2022 regarding to cost reduction most of the hotels, B&Bs in Italy do not open the heaters after 9 pm but this room was quite warm. on the other hand by 20 mins walking you can reach the popular shopping streets or POIs.
Really lovely staff and cheap city tax compared to other hotels we stayed at in Italy. The staff gave us a map and helped with recommendations and allowed us to leave luggage the next day. Beautiful room 3 minutes walk away from the tower and the shared bathroom was very clean. Would definitely recommend.
No person on-site to greet us but communications were easy and very efficient. Excellent location to train but quiet, sparkling clean and 5-6 mins by taxi to airport. Their recommended restaurant was one of the best meals we’ve had since arriving in Italy 3 days ago.
Conveniently located near the train station (like 2 min away) it might seem a little bit far from Pisa main attractions (20 min walking distance).
Room was a little outdated, however, the best breakfast I have had in Italy was in this hotel. Best value for money.
The property is really affordable, the view is spectacular, the location is perfect, only a few steps away from the Pisa Leaning Tower, and 8 mins walk to the central station, the staff are all really friendly and nice! Best accommodations I’ve had in Italy:)
This was by far the best place I’ve stayed in Italy. The price was good and it is just feet away from the leaning tower. Just by stepping outside you are greeted with several options of Italian food. The staff was super kind and professional.
Excellent location for Pisa city centre and the sights, the hotel has its own parking though very tight, would not advise a car over the size of a Fiat 500X. 24 Hr check in
good service. the hotel offers parking for 25 EUR. the location is great and our room had wonderful view to Pisa Tower. breakfast with 4 different types of Croissants
