The best thing in Abashiri was the famous yakiniku.
The best thing in Abashiri was the famous yakiniku. It was indeed a great value for money if you love to eat wagyu beef. Other than that, the town is very small and boring. When we were there in late January, there was no drift ice. You could still take the cruise which runs about 45 minutes, but without drift ice. They even drove me to abashiri prison when I was waiting for the bus, and were just really warm and welcoming. The room itself was really spacious too, and people here say it wasn't clean, which I did not really notice to be honest, though it was not like squeaky clean maybe.
