I never imagined a major town in South Wales could be so run down. I checked out of the accomodation a day early and found myself in the High Street around 0830. I had an hour or so here before my train out of town and I saw nothing of interest to a visitor.

First time in Wales for me.
First time in Wales for me. Everywhere we went met with friendly people. Even the girl in Next chatted while serving me and laughed with me about my day.Family meal (14 of us) at TGF. Made welcome and served with a smile all evening.
Coffee shops also had staff interested in our stories.
Pity we live in Perth with 8 hour drive as liked people and places and a return trip maybe when newlyweds have family

The room was good, the pool was out of commission which spoiled the weekend because that made the jacuzzi impossible to gain entrance to due to the amount of people being let down on the pool. Food was perfect.

There is a lot to like about Newport and the surrounding countryside. My favourite feature is without doubt the famous 'Transporter Bridge'. You have the choice of numerous venues for both Rugby and Football matches and a great selection of local Parkruns.

There are many places to eat in Newport, there is also lots of shops and local bars with live music. It is close to Newport football stadium. It also has a little castle near the train station.
The new Newport market is a great addition to Newport, it had lots of small shops and a variety of different restaurants which you can order on the app and get it served to your table.
This hotel is simply superb. The bedrooms are enormous, the fittings and fixtures are excellent. The cleanliness is remarkable. The breakfast is very scrummy. The car parking is safe and secure. But the best thing about staying in this hotel is the quality of food available in the adjoining Dragonfly restaurant, served by staff who know how to make the customer happy. I have already booked up for my next stay in this hotel and would recommend it to anyone planning to stay in a hotel in Newport.
The Waterloo Hotel is a beautiful building, rooms are really clean and we had a very comfy bed. We had a room at the front of the building with a huge bathroom. This is a family run hotel and the owners and team are so welcoming, nothing is too much trouble for them. We booked full English breakfast which was excellent. We will definitely back, it would be good to
try out the restaurant when they open up. A good location for Newport (20.min stroll) and Cardiff. Would highly recommend.
It's a workies hotel, grubby and worn, not the best, if you need a cheap room for the night, or maybe just a couple of hours then it is fine. it is literally feet from the M4 so it is handy. Place stinks throughout but the room was fine. Certainly not a place to stay for a holiday. Breakfast is basically cornflakes and stale pastries and you have to wait because the breakfast room doesn't have enough tables.
Excellent breakfast, superb staff, interesting building with sympathetic renovation. Will be going back as soon as we can and taking our family. We were given the WiFi code when we checked in, the hotel is in a great location with a cycle/walking route that goes to Newport. Two museums within walking distance and a historic walk around the village. Lovely outside seating area with well kept gardens
The hotel itself and inside their area was absolutely beautiful. There was plenty of parking and we didn't have to pay any extra for that. We loved walking into our room and it was already warm, there was some classical music playing on the radio, it was clean, and had a nice scent. It was very comfortable. They had pretty good breakfast choices and a nice environment.
Friendly, welcoming staff. Clean room on the ninth floor with a grand view of the river and Newport town. Our query about the broken bedside lamp was dealt with straight away. The room had everything we needed for a comfortable three nights including a good, hot shower and king sized bed. Parking was convenient in a multi storey next door which was locked overnight.
Staff were lovely and helpful. Might need to do some local advertisement in regard to the hotel as anytime we mentioned where we were staying, no one was aware of the hotel (it used to be Yates then Premier Inn I think), especially taxi drivers - one Taxi driver mentioned he wasn't aware the hotel existed till 2 weeks ago. Another taxi driver didn't hear of it.
Nice, fresh, modern hotel. Clean, contemporary rooms and common areas. An excellent addition to Newport and having spoken to Richard (very nice chap on the front desk) it’s promising to hear the hotel is performing well in a city that gets so much negative abuse and is regarded as Cardiffs poor relation. Great city, great hotel. I’ll definitely return.
To say this house is value for money would be a understatement. Spotlessly clean and a gorgeous spacious house. It worked out cheaper for us and 2 friends than a hotel and we definitely will stay again when we are in the area next.
We were even left some milk and bread etc by the hosts which we weren't expecting.. Thanks for a great stay..
The hotel is right at the centre of Newport, staff are very friendly, they went the extra mile to make us happy. check in was very quick, wifi is fast. rooms are super clean, beds are comfy, we had a good night sleep. Breakfast this morning was English breakfast buffet and was just on point. price was very reasonable. highly recommended.
Well I have to say I’m impressed for a budget hotel , clean room, super comfy beds , air con , black out blind , tv , coffee making facilities what’s not to love. Fab breakfast all good
Staff were impeccable especially the lovely guy who we saw for breakfast. He sorted us a table straight away and made us and my young son feel so very welcome! Credit to the hotel.
Everything about this hotel is amazing .we have been quite a few times now .had the fab breakfast it was lovely so much choice a warm morning welcome .☺️
