A city of heritage, heart and of course Hogmanay, Scotland’s capital is vibrant and edgy. Whether or not you come for one of its many festivals, Edinburgh is quite simply a feast for the senses.
The wealth of Edinburgh sights ranges from Holyrood Palace to the Botanical Gardens, Princes Street to the Royal Mile. Overseeing them all is majestic Edinburgh Castle. Be there at sunset on a clear day to see the city below bathed in a warm, orange glow. Simply stunning.
Wandering the streets, the smell of fish and chips wafts by, with the unique twist of salt ‘n’ sauce – a must-try variation on this favourite dish. Follow it up with a smooth whisky and you’ll start to feel like a local.
For a taste of Scottish culture, a kilt-wearing busker often plays the bagpipes on Waverley Bridge, while traditional folk music can be heard in some Old Town pubs. Complete your stay with a rugby match at Murrayfield or a round at one of the city’s 14 golf clubs, and you’ll have the true Edinburgh experience.
Whether you are looking for hotels near Edinburgh Airport or accommodations in the city center, Booking.com has a great range to choose from.
Fantastic city. My new favourite!
Transport links to and from the Airport are excellent(you couldn’t go wrong). We took the tram which got us into the main city centre in 30 minutes. It leaves every 7/8 minutes. It was great value for money (£9.50 return) but you can get the bus as well. Easy city to navigate around.
We walked everywhere, although there are a lot of steps and hills. (keep in mind if you’ve got less able bodied people in your group). Lots of laneways and side streets to explore.
We found the people very friendly and helpful.
We did a couple of tours to outside the city to Loch Lomond through Timberbush tours(we booked on Viatour which made it easy) we found these very good but there is more than enough to do in the city itself to keep you busy. There are hop on hop off bus tours available around the Waverley market area). We also did a walking tour of Edinburgh castle which was very good and informative. Most of these tours meet along the Royal Mile which is easy to find.
A clean and well maintained city for the most part.
We stayed in York place which was within easy walking distance of a lively area which had loads of options for dining of every budget.
We will definitely be back.

Fantastic city - I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, and will return to see more. I had four days, but honestly could have spent four weeks and still not have gotten to see as much as I wanted. The caste tour was very enjoyable, and dinner after at The Witchery was one of the best I've ever had. Best of all were the people of Edinburgh; incredibly friendly, helpful, and they all actually seemed happy. Followed this visit with a trip to the Czech Republic, where I don't think I met a single happy person in four days, much less anyone who was semi-approachable. I'll see much more of Scotland next time round. I wont be going back to CZ.

We enjoyed our visit to Edinburgh Castle although it was busy, even in April. We ate at Gusto, good food and service. We ate at a steak house and were not disappointed.
The Royal Mile is full of similar touristy shops, but walking round the city and park gave us plenty to see.
We did drive the 3 miles to the base of Arthur’s Seat, and then enjoyed the challenge of the climb and the views from the top. Not for the truly unfit!
We had a brilliant stay in Edinburgh, the hotel were brilliant. We were surprized by the size of the room, as we expected something smaller. The bathroom was a really good size with all the necessary toiletries.
The staff was brilliant, very helpful, they kept our luggage both on the day or arrival and departure.
The hotel is right in the centre, 1 minute walk to the royal mile. It is a brilliant location if you want to explore Edinburgh city centre.
We really enjoyed our stay and we will be going back again.
Newly renovated, nicely furnished, friendly guest house. Ian and David were welcoming, available, and helpful, with excellent tips and pointers on Edinburgh in general and the local area in particular. Breakfast was very good ("Lorne sausage" is an acquired taste, but it was not compulsory). The fresh bread at breakfast (baked in-house by Ian) is a lovely touch!
Location is decent for access to the Old Town, with a very pleasant 15-20 minute walk to the Royal Mile. The regular buses cut that time in half.
Pretty much perfect location as it’s in the middle of new town and old town , and right infront of the rail station. It also has a shortcut path to take you directly from the hotel to the Royal mile in about 20 seconds lol. It was perfect, you really can’t get a better location. Also they had so many amenities like an espresso machine and the fluffiest sheets ever. I was extremely happy and comfortable here. If I return to Edinburgh I will only stay here.
Fantastic hotel, the best experience you can desire for a holiday in Edinburgh. It has everything you need, staff very welcoming and charming, clean elegant and very pleasant hotel. Perfect location there is also a bus stop right outside the hotel that takes you directly to the city centre. I stayed in an single room and I had the best view 🪟 of it.
Breakfast it's the best, very generous and delicious.
I can't wait to come back again.
The hotel is absolutely gorgeous, not too far from Edinburgh city centre, we took a taxi into the city one day and it cost just over £20. The staff were very friendly, the room was clean and the shower was great. We didn’t use the facilities since we were out but they have a wide range of things to do, and the pool is open late. The bar staff were very friendly, and introduced me to my new favourite cocktail!
Amazing location, just two doors from the Royal Mile and St Giles’ Cathedral. 3-4 blocks from the National Museum of Scotland, where we spent a full day exploring.
Our room was elegant and looked out over the park below Edinburgh Castle. Nice to have a mini kitchen.
The staff is friendly and helpful. Guido, Alison, and Anna all helped make our stay memorable. We look forward to returning to Fraser Suites.
The location of this hotel was spot on, close to everything in Old Town. We walked everywhere and saw everything that we wanted to see in Edinburgh. We had a day trip to the Highlands and such as well and walked to the pick up spot just around the corner. Staff was friendly, beds were comfortable and there was great water pressure. I would stay again for the location, staff and value!
The Scholar is a well managed hotel, great room and a very comfortable bed. In fact the bathroom was spacious and modern. The whole facility is both modern and homely - excellent facilities all round. Great location and handy bus options for accessing Edinburgh city centre. The best part of the location is that it is a quiet neighbourhood.
The room was clean. Comfortable bed. Friendly staff. Really good breakfast starting at 0700 so you can get an early start to your day.
Excellent location. The 100 Edinburgh Airport shuttle bus stops right outside the hotel and you can walk to the city centre from the hotel in 10 mins.
It will be my go to hotel for future visits.
The location is perfect, in city centre, in walking distance to both the Old Town and the New Town, and this hotel is great value for money. I was worried that the room might be noisy because of the location, but we were in the new part of the hotel and it was very quiet. It was also very clean and comfortable.
3rd stay here and this time we were given a room facing main road it was quite noisy due to constant traffic....that is our only down side, we will definitely be going back but will ask for a quieter room .... definitely recommend this hotel...only 15 minutes on bus to Edinburgh City centre...
The hotel is a newly styled hotel. The room is spacious with a pantry with fridge, microwave, dishwasher n a sink. It provides good quality of shampoo, conditioner, bath gel n body lotion. The buffet breakfast is good too. It near U of Edinburgh n walkable distance to the old town.
This place has lots of character and was better in person! Pleasantly surprised at larger bedroom suite and view of courtyard, great location in New Town area (downhill from Old Town Edinburgh), staff was super friendly and helpful, and the common areas were quite enjoyable.
Very nice hotel in a quiet neighborhood .A spacious, beautiful room and very clean. It is 10 minute walk from the new town and 15-20 minutes from the old town. Also very close to Dean's village and a beautiful walk along the river Leith
Ideally located out of Edinburgh city centre for those wanting to avoid traffic jams.
Warm welcome on arrival and really friendly staff.
Modern hotel with good facilities.
Breakfast was the best of our trip.
very cosy hotel with everything what you need ! it is not in the city centre but we knew that when we booked our room.
we had beautiful room with the view on the street with old buildings which was lovely.
The room was absolutely amazing. Perfect for a stay in Edinburgh. It was a beautiful hotel in a great location. Quiet but close for walks and to the city centre.
Hotel is in a good location with parking facilities and easy access to Edinburgh City Centre. Breakfast good. Rooms bigger than most city centre hotels.
