Aachen is older than the Hungarian statehood itself. A wondrous city just next to the German-Dutch-Belgian border tripoint. I am Hungarian, and it was great to see how much it is connected to Hungary. We are about a thousand kilometres from my hometown, yet it was great to see Saint Stephen I in the garden of the cathedral, the statue of St. Ladislaus inside the Hungarian chapel. We went to Aachen for the Christmas market, so we only stayed for one night. All in all, that part of our trip was worth it. That being said, Aachen, when compared to cities of similar size, didn't leave a good impression. Especially the graffiti (not the good kind) around every corner is jarring.
