1. Central Location. Just right outside Koln Hansaring Station, which is one stop away from Koln Central Station. Everything is near. Major attractions, Restaurants, Shopping Area, etc.
2. Big & Spacious room. This was my first experience having such a huge hotel room in Europe in this budget category.
3. I requested a Quiet Room but I was given a corner room at the 2nd floor very close to the streets & train. Surprisingly, the sound proofing is good and I didn't hear anything outside.

Founded by the Romans in 38 BC and idyllically located on the Rhine River, Cologne offers the perfect blend of historical and modern Germany. There’s no place more picturesque to drink a Kolsch beer and eat a schnitzel than on the banks of the River Rhine. Here you’ll find the Altstad, or Old Town, with the impressive Cologne Dom on the skyline.
Visitors to Cologne in November can dance the days away at the Carnival Parade. In December, no trip to Cologne’s magical Christmas markets is complete without a steaming mug of Gluhwein.
The charm extends to other seasons as well, thanks to the medieval wonders of the Cologne Cathedral and the Twelve Romanesque churches. Learn about the city’s history at the Roman-Germanic Museum or take a postmodern approach at Museum Ludwig. Whether historic or culinary, a trip to the Chocolate Museum can complete any tour.
Booking.com offers 260 different accommodations, ranging from apartments to mid-budget hotels to guest houses. So whether you’re stepping out of a plane at the Cologne Bonn Airport or a shop on Hohe Strasse, you will be sure to have a cozy room for those cool European nights.

I visited Cologne many times and I love it!
I visited Cologne many times and I love it! This time we parked the car at the Köln Arcaden, a big shopping mall in Köln-Deutz on the other side of the Rhine. You can buy a 24 hour ticket there for just €4! But remember to buy this within one hour after driving in. And try to leave a bit earlier to be sure not to pay extra. This happened to me, I had to pay an extra €10, I consider this still cheap for 24 hours parking in a big city. U Bahn and S Bahn station is at walking distance from the mall and you are in the centre in a few stops. The mall itself is fine too by the way.

Cologne was the first place in Germany I had visited 30 years ago. I fell in love with the city then and I still feel the same about it now. I was here this time for a trade fair and it was a great trip with new connections made. It has everything you need. Excellent city.

A cool city that you should definitely visit.
A cool city that you should definitely visit. But be careful when booking hotels, do your research carefully. The same one and I ended up with what I believe are scammers. We traveled in April 2024, and found an inexpensive hotel Downtown Ehrenfeld on booking.
1 night in Cologne
booked a room. check-in after 16.00 - approx. I received a message from the booking office that bed linen is not included in the price, but you can pay an additional 10 euros per set and get.... well, okay, on the road, we won’t change anything, we’ll take it extra....
We arrived at 17.00 and discovered there was no bedding. At the reception we said we need bedding, we are ready to pay extra, they suggested we call Mr. Otto. They gave me a phone number. Ok, let's hurry to see the city, then we'll call you when we get back. We returned at 22.00 - tomorrow we will continue on. We call Mr. Otto - and the answer is: a room without linen, it’s your problem that you don’t have bed linen with you, I can’t help you, but you’ll be indignant and call the police. - this is the result of the conversation... they spat, went to the room, put a jacket under their head, and without undressing went to bed early in the morning on the road. We just started to fall asleep, we hear in the next room they come in and, finding themselves in the same situation, try to resolve the issue with the bed linen and, having received the same thing in response, people did not want to put up with it, turned around, spat on the lost money and left. In the morning we left with an impression of the contrasting city of Cologne - I did not expect that in 2024, in Germany, you could run into such deception of customers. Conclusion - don’t relax, otherwise.....

The city has a lot of roman history and it is well known for its amazing cathedral and the nice view of the cathedral and the Hohenzollern bridge.
It's not a big city so you can visit the most important places (excluding museums) in a day and you don't really need to be taking trains to move around. The city center and the surroundings are quite beautiful: Alter markt, Heumarkt, the river itself and the visits from the "Cologne triangle" building.
Also a nice walk is: from the city center through Schildergasse street (shoping street) go to Neumarkt and then Rudolfplatz where you can visit the roman door.
An interesting neighbourhood to visit is Ehrenfeld where you can take nice pictures related to modern art, graffiti, etc.
If you plan to visit some museums, I would recommend "NS-Documentation Center" (for those interested in the WW2 history), the Cathedral's treasury rooms and the Ludwig Museum.
There are also other interesting museums, like the chocolate's musems (rather overrated in my opinion), the mustard museum and the "Kölnisches Stadtmuseum" (the last one being a nice building with a "Ford fiesta" on the roof.
If you have more time to spend on the city, visit the zoom, the flora gardens, some parks, etc. There is also a big therme named "Claudius Therme".
With the train you can also visit some nices places not too far away: Bonn, Düsseldorf, Aachen or Königswinter are well worth a visit.
Also, check out for events taking place in the Kölnmesse.
We had 3 great nights in this hotel; it has character, in a top location (very close to a metro stop) and in a lively neighbourhood with a supermarket next door and many restaurants in the area, just walking distance away, which is really nice after a long day of exploring the city centre. The breakfast was good, with a variety of options to choose from. Vegan options too, which we apreciated. Cologne is very vegan friendly anyway, almost all restaurants had many vegan options.
Large room and a nice comfortable bed.
Breakfast was more than ample with cooked sausages and bacon etc and a good selection of cereals, breads and cheeses.
Location was brilliant as it was two minutes from Hansaring Station that is then just one stop from Cologne Central Station. Their are plenty of restaurants and bars very close to this hotel and a bit cheaper than going right into the city centre.
We would definitely stay again.
Very nice hotel with a personal touch, very nice staff in the reception. Helpful with good practical tips. Good breakfast and the location is great. The room was good but the bed was a bit worn and I could feel a dip in the middle of the bed. Now I am working with beds and have very strict ideas about how a bed should feel.
For sure I will try to book same hotel next time I visit Cologne :)
Very nice traditional hotel in the heart of Cologne, friendly staff, you can feel that it is family owned. Walking distance to Hauptbahnhof and Hansaring, from Hansaring there is a fast and cheap direct train connection to the airport. It’s near Eigelstein, Weidengasse, Agnesviertel with a lot of good cafés and restaurants.
Absolutely AMAZING hotel room!!! For the price, it was EXCEPTIONAL!! Definitely 4* LUXURY!! My friend and I were on a little week-long trip around France and Germany with our two dogs. This was, by far, the best room of the trip!! Many thanks to the wonderful evening concierge who made us feel soooo welcome!!
This place was perfect. The room so beautiful and cosy with a great view of the river. It was very clean and so close to all the main attractions. The lady at reception gave me great information about the Christmas markets I should visit. Cologne was just beautiful and this hotel topped it off.
I have especially liked lobby-lounge area. It is on the top floor, cosy, with comfortable furniture and good view. Hotel is few steps from airport and train station (15 min to Cologne center). I had very late inbound and early outbound flights, therefore location of hotel was perfect.
New Hotel/Hostel with all modern facilities.
Must stay place for your next cologne visit.
Free Bed linen, Bath and Hand Towels which you don’t get in Germany. Also you don’t have to bring the used linen to lobby like in other German Hotels.
The best hostel ever !!
Perfect stay for our porpoise, easy public transportation to Cologne Center and Airport. The staff was really nice at check in and during our stay, good breakfast, clean rooms, restaurant and supermarket very close by, I recommend to stay at this hotel
The rooms were excellent, very comfortabel with very goods beds. The breakfast was luxerious and the hotel is located in the city centre of Cologne. The hotel has an own car park, but on a very short walking distance is also a public car park.
This is my standard hotel for Cologne and suroundings.
You have a fully fledged spa connected to the hotel, so the best relaxation ever after a day full of work.
On top it's in the center, if you want to go out and see Cologne!
My stay was perfect as the hotel is very close to the train station and is located near some of the top locations to see in Cologne. The receptionist was kind and the rooms were very clean! It was a great stay!
One of the best hotel airports I've stayed in. A short walk from Cologne Bonn. Very easy check in, friendly staff, big rooms with aircon and the bed was super comfortable. Great value!
The staff was extremely friendly and attentive.
The hotel is close to the city centre, to major museums and the Cologne cathedral. Also next to the Rhine. Has nice comfortable rooms.
Location is perfect as it is inside Cologne Central Station and there are many shops, restaurants and main tourist attractions are really just in front or back of the hotel.
Excellent location, beautiful view out the windows, well modern designed big room. very helpful staff at the desk. One of the best boutique Hotels in Köln.
