We had a fabulous night at this charming hotel run by lorella - the room was spotless with a very comfortable bed and great bathroom. We arrived before our check in time but they made our room ready and gave us a welcome coffee on arrival. We had a delicious dinner that evening. We highly recommend this as a great stop - the bus to and from volterra higher stops right outside the hotel - thank u

Volterra is a nice hilltop town with a few churches and museums. The shopkeepers are friendly and they have some lovely artisan products. There is a large outdoor market on Fridays when the whole place has a wonderful atmosphere. The alabaster sculpture are stunning and unusual. The villa was a wonderful place to stay! The building was built in the 15th century but has all the modern amenities. Our host/owner Luca was so accommodating in every way. His staff prepared a delicious breakfast each morning with many varieties of local cuisine. He had even prepared a map and detailed itinerary for several day trips if we wanted to explore the surrounding towns and other sights. Volterra is a beautiful historic town and walking around the narrow streets feels like stepping back several centuries in time. Walking around the traffic free central area was a pleasure. We visited several historic buildings including the beautiful cathedral. Also some excellent museums with great collections and works of art. There are beautiful views of the country side and you can also see Volterra. Our hosts Paola and Alessandro were incredibly warm and made our stay there very special. They can provide breakfast and dinner. Paola is an excellent cook and made a memorable dinner for us. This is a beautiful property with wonderful hosts. We hope to return to Casa Al Povero.

The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was big and clean, the parking lot was free and the city center of Volterra is 20 min walking away. So it is a really good place to stay.
