Everyone should sleep in a Castle at least once in their life. Wish we could have stayed another night to enjoy the solitude and appreciate the location.

We stayed here for a quick overnight and layover to see Gibraltar. Easy walk across the border from here and a nice central location in town with nearby parking. Accommodations are basic, but we got a good nights sleep!
Old roman road hiking up to the castle is must do.

Make sure you reserve dinner when checking in or before, because we arrived late and we did not have dinner reserved and when we came to the only restaurant which was open which is from the hotel, they said that they are fully booked. However, the manager found a way to fit us in.
the reception and breakfast is in the castle tower. the room turned out to be a house within the castle walls. two floors, kitchen, small dining table and bathroom on ground floor, bedroom upstairs. nothing fancy, but very cozy and authentic, and right across from the good restaurant, also run by the hotel. Castellar, of course, is spectacular, and you're staying IN the castle
I love the hotel, the whole little town, the picturesque view, comfy beds and nice tavern with vermouth. It was a wonderful stay though only possible to get there by car- it’s on top of a mountain. Take cash with you! In the hotel you can pay by card but there are no cash mashines to pay for restaurants in the little town
The accommodation was so quaint and historically perfect. It is a proper old fashioned historical cottage within the ancient castle walls. We loved it! The coffee and service in the hotel was brilliant. Dinner in the restaurant was superb.staff couldn’t do enough.
The hotel is located in a lovely setting with huge areas of wooded land around to walk. The hotel itself is beautiful and full of history. The breakfast was excellent and good value, however above all, the staff couldn't have been more helpful throughout.
A wonderful romantic hotel if you prefer peace and nature. The hotel is located in a quiet area in the countryside. Large comfortable beds, large bathroom. Excellent food in the restaurant. We didn't want to leave.
Fantastic location, wonderfull little town within castlewalls with superb views of the countryside.
Quaint cottages to stay. Quiet, only sounds of the birds. Nice restaurant in seperate building from hotel.
Wonderful location in the Castellar Castle. A really beautiful little town and surrounding area. We enjoyed several nice hikes in the area and the hotel restaurant in town is worth a visit.
