That came as a surprise to me on my first day, and my understanding is that not all schools do that. By the same token, not all teachers feel the same way about working with the camera rolling. Some are glad, in that it protects them from some trouble that may result from a problem in the classroom (such as a fight), but others, like me, find it invasive. At my former school the parents are invited to watch from another room while you teach. The management actually has a system to secretly warn the teacher which one of his or her students has a parent watching the teacher is then supposed to give extra attention to that kid and try to make them look smart and successful. I'll let the readers form their own opinions on that situation. Anyway, as Mr. Dye wisely wrote, if an applicant thinks he or she might care one way or the other on this or any imaginable issue, it's probably best to get some language about it on the contract. Don't be shy.
